Probably what some would consider spoilers in here...so beware...Okay...I just completed reading this at the pool after a couple Cheladas...Loved it.This 2nd, in the thus-far, three-part series was really good...I felt like the author spent more time with the characters and descriptions.I liked the premise again of the military working to regain order. Pretty cool about Redshirt being immune...But talk about horrific...Imagining getting bit-up by a bunch of zombies and living through it...Dr. Morano is an an epic character...You hate her soooo much...You just cant wait for her to die...At the hands of hopefully Nick and Brit...Classic gov hag...Classic line from Princess Bride tho...ha!I like the difficulty of the intimate relationship between Brit and Nick...I like the new Eastern European commie recruit..lol...I really liked the fact that they went to Denver to help regain control and subsequently DIA...I always like it when a setting in a book is from my home state...The whole train ride/battle, the tower at DIA...good stuff right there...The short stories at the end, by what appears to be different authors...I really like that. The Warthogs one was really good...the search for pretzels and the blonde...The bunny he got...Just neat little details and themes throughout...The whole Fort McHenry battle description was awesome...The first takedown and the second propaganda mission with the flag...The rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air... Great writing there.East Bound and Down was great too...The Vietnam vet was epic...The description of the helo going down...The loss of all the civilians...Good short story...Scrounging...Very good, with the note to Sean...The parents in the garage...And of course, The Grunts...With Thog contributing...lol...I do love Powerpoint Ranger on FB too, so I like seeing those little bits...And the last line is epic: Youll get better, but its going to get worse.Really fun read...Loved all of it...Some wicked editing problems...Grammar, punctuation, spelling, typos...But I can overlook it because its fun and good stuff...Waiting for the third installment to come in the mail. Note that the third book in the series is only on Kindle unless you buy the compilation of all three and the short stories. I prefer real books and I dont have a Kindle, so I invested in the compilation...I should have researched better and just got it to begin with, but thats okay...I like supporting independent authors like this.Overall fun read and good stuff...While Im waiting for the third installation, Ill continue with Patriots by James Wesley Rawles which is turning out to be REALLY good too...
