Band 1 dieser dreiteiligen Comicreihe nutzt eine der Geschichten, Nie Xiao Qian (in dersehr empfehlenswerten deutschen Übersetzung von Gottfried Rösel als Der Lederbeutel übersetzt) als Basis.Ein Schuldeneintreiber hilft einem hübschen Geist, der von einer verführerischen Dämonin dazu gezwungen wird, Menschen zu töten. Die Geschichte wurde etwas vom Original verfremdet - mir ist nicht wirklich klar, warum, denn die Änderungen sind meist eher verflachend denn anregend.Die Zeichnungen von Yishan Li sind oft wunderbar atmosphärische, geisterhafte und ätherische Szenen, vor allem in den ruhigeren Teilen der Geschichte; sobald aber etwas Dynamik dazukommt, wirken die Bilder statisch, gestellt und künstlich - gerade der Kampf am Ende des Bandes zwischen dem Taoistenpriester und der Baumform des Dämons scheint mir sehr bemüht.Insgesamt ist dieses Werk wohl hauptsächlich für Shojo-Fans interessant, und wem Bride of the Water God gefallen hat, wird auch diesen Comic mögen. Alle anderen sollten vielleicht erstmal auf der Homeseite der Künstlerin einen Blick hineinwerfen.Die französische Ausgabe aus dem Delcourt-Verlag ist sehr großformatig, stabil gebunden und wartet mit toller Farbreproduktion auf dickem Papier auf. Ein kurzes Vorwort des Herausgebers klärt über Pu Songling auf.
