Head of Web Development Andrew Avdeev presented "The Practice of the Startup on Blockchain Technology, the Technical Side of the ICO" at Imaguru Blockchain School, where he discussed the unique Scorum Crowdsale experience from four angles:

1. Work with clients

The main conclusion we came to is that clients may not be just buyers, but they can become your best friends who test systems for free, offer insights, report problems and vulnerabilities.

The main advices:

  • Provide high quality 24/7 support;
  • Ensure timely communication regarding all updates;
  • Consider that for some customers your ICO may be the first one, as far as the industry itself is relatively young – take care over your clients, always provide them with instructions.

2. Buyers

The main tasks we've solved during the ICO:

  • How can a buyer transfer money?
  • How to confirm that each transaction was successful?
  • How to collect all funds together and do a balance sheet?

Our solutions were not perfect, and looking back, probably, we could make some improvements. But at that time we thought it was the best decision.

3. Third-party dependencies

During the crowdsale and after, you will have to work with a large number of third-party services, and the key is not to rely on them 100%, put more time into integration and always have a plan B.

4. System architecture

Main takeaways on system architecture are following:

  • Lay down the scaling: if something goes wrong, you can always add more resources later;
  • Carry out load testing;
  • Provide 3-4 times more power than your system sustained during the testing;
  • Do not skimp on alerting and monitoring. It will save you a lot of money and time, if something goes wrong (something always goes wrong);
  • Log everything and at all levels. It allows to restore the chronology and find the problem, if something went wrong.
