We stayed at Villa Shade on our first and last day or our Sri Lanka trip. The bungalows are very nicely done and clean. The garden is great for small children with a very nice pool to relax and a small pitch for badminton and basketball. The tree house will attract the kids during breakfast so the parents can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Shiraj did everything possible in order to make our stay a memorable one. He made research for us on the net and sent us information as we were on our trip. Great hosts, beautiful, quiet place! The staff is patient, polite and make tasty breakfast. You can ask them helping call airport tuk-tuk in reasonable price. Unfortunately, the rooms is under the airplane route-you may be awakened at night. The Owner is very kind and make attentions to us, we like stay here at Villa Shade where stay as like home, the villa is very clean, close to Negombo beach and to the Airport. Very like to stay here and when we would visited Negombo again next time, we must stay here again, this Villa is very recommended! Best villa to stay with family, play ground, swimming pool, basket ball,badminton court, tree house, friendly and very humble staff, delicious break fast the organic fruits came from their garden , the rooms are very spacious and very clean, They are providing ecofriendly taxi service for Airport pick up. There could not be a better way to start or end your trip to Sri Lanka! The villas are beautiful and large enough for our family of 5. The grounds are lush and tropical with lots to do for the kids. We arrived in the middle of the night and we were able to relax in the morning by the pool while our kids played in the treehouse. Our host at villa shade made sure everything was perfect and the breakfast was fantastic. This hotel is good for a night stay, the owner and the staff were very good. We arrive quite late and the owner was waiting for us, which was very nice of him. Family room was cramped, with little space to move around. Villa shade was our first stop on our 2 week holiday in Sri Lanka with two young children and our au pair. We had one room with 2 beds and a cot which made it very affordable. The room was great and we had an outdoor shower. The garden treehouse was a highlight for our daughter whilst the gorgeous pool satisfied the whole family. We had breakfast in the shade of the trees of the garden with entertainment from the resident squirrels negotiating rooftops, cables and branches. It was just an overnight stay after arriving at Colombo airport late at night but well worth it. The airport transfer was hassle free and good value. The next day we left for Colombo and again the transfer was really easy. It is a beautiful spot in amongst palm tall trees on a quiet street and a real treat so close to the airport. Highly recommended! The owner is a most generous, hospitable, informative and helpful host and staff is friendly and attentive. Beautiful and well maintained garden and pool area. Very comfortable and we felt welcomed. We arrived very early in the morning, and were greeted with refreshments and a friendly face. The hosts helped to organize a comfortable and safe airport transfer and we were treated to an amazing breakfast in the morning. We should visit Villa Shade again!! BUT, the place was awesome. You can enjoy Sri Lankan breakfast in the garden with tree house. And the rooms are in the beautiful garden and each rooms are like cottage. And they are building a swimming pool now: We arrived airport at 2a. The driver was very nice and we could feel safe. We were only there for the night but it felt longer as we really enjoyed our stay and soaked up the beautiful surroundings in the garden for breakfast. My wife and I stayed here for one night at the end of our 2 week honeymoon; what a relaxing and peaceful way to finish our trip! The owners and staff are extremely kind and friendly, we stayed in one of the bungalows which was beautiful and immaculately clean. The dinner rice and curry and breakfast were delicious better than many of the more expensive places we stayed. We had a short transit for a day in Colombo. But we feel very comfort , relaxed while stayed here. The owner was very friendly and helpful, he arranged tuk tuk to roam around the small town negombo. Highly recommend for the travelers to have a safe and pleasant stay. Very good place to start tourist in Sri Lanka. Room is comfortable. You can have breakfast in the garden and the food taste good. The only problem is difficult to find some where to eat. We bought some constant noodles and cooked in the chicken by ourselves. It is also a good experience. They have every thing in the chicken for your cooking. The owner and the staff of the hotel are very nice and helpful. They can give you a lot of suggestion about your tourist in Negombo and Sri Lanka. It was one of our best memory during our travel in Sri Lanka. The owners are a Christian family who tried their best to help us during our stay. Thanks to their help we found a very good and cheap driver helpped us all the way during our stay in Lanka. The free bicycles supplied by the owner gave us a good riding experience although we got lost on the way to beach! Higly recommend for family stay in Sri Lanka. Clean self-contained villa set on a beautiful property in a quiet neighborhood. Most of all we are so grateful for the owners who arranged airport pick up and looking after our luggage while we tour around the island for 6 days, with a simple phone call he had organized it delivered to airport before we fly off! Thank you!! What a fantastic way to end my stay in Sri Lanka. I arrived late and in the pouring rain and the owners went out of their way to make sure I had transport to the airport arranged for very early in the morning and also helped me order pizza for delivery. They even went the extra mile to get up and see me off so early in the morning with a packed breakfast to take with me. Would most defiantly book again! It was the first night of our honeymoon and the lovely couple who own this place upgraded us to a brand new villa with the most beautiful bathroom and huge bed. We would highly recommend this place and wished we had stayed longer. They also organised a pick up from the airport at 2am which was a massive relief for our first night in Sri Lanka. My two friends and I wanted a place to stay after we arrived late at night in Sri Lanka. Villa Shade was o quiet and peaceful that we stayed an extra night to get ready for our trip around Sri Lanka. Siraji and Deedee made us very welcome and made sure we were taken care of. Would heartily recommend Villa Shade as an introduction to the gentle hospitality of Sri Lankans. After our arrival in Sri Lanka, Villa Shade was our first accommodation. We were welcomed with open arms by the guesthouse owner in the middle of the night. This guesthouse has a wonderful garden with king- and normal coconut trees. The staff were perfectly instructed to make our stay as pleasant as possible. From the first day on we felt like we were in our own home. That made us decide we wanted to end our journey in Villa Shade too. And so we did. After three weeks of intensive traveling we came back, and were again, welcomed with open arms. Villa Shade is about 4km from the restaurants and diners on Lewis Place beach side. This distance is perfectly manageable with a three-wheeler. About rs. The staff will call you one that picks you up to go where you want to go. The Villa itself is in a quite side-street of the Katana Road. Every day we were asked what time we wanted breakfast. The next morning a well-crafted breakfast was waiting for us at the agreed time. Just tell so one day in advance and the best crafted Sri Lankan dishes will be made for you! I would recommend this guesthouse to anyone that plans a trip to Sri Lanka! We were attended to by our lovely hosts who run this charming bed and breakfast because of their love and passion for Sri Lanka. They were happy to give us traveling tips, but gave us our independence and alone time as well. Wonderful breakfasts served in the garden. A great place to relax and very convenient for getting to and from the airport. Plus, they have a colleague who provides the airport pick-ups and drop-offs and is the most lovely person. On Sunday, he brought us some a home-cooked meal so that we could enjoy Sri-Lankan cuisine on our very first day. Our flight landed after midnight and this lovely hotel was ready to welcome us, organising transport for 1am. The breakfast in the houses garden was delightful and the hosts cannot help enough. In short the villa shade met its purpose, the room are located in the large house, we were the only guests at this time. It was a very refreshing stay in this quiet area so close to the Airport. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Forget the hustle and bustle of Negombo tourist strip on the first night after a long journey. This is the place to be. The grounds are a lovely place to relax with a book or eat breakfast. There are plenty of trees for shade, and birds to sing for you. The rooms are large, cheerful, and have many special and thoughtful touches. The water pressure in the bathroom is great! There is the use of free bicycles and some options for enjoying a bike ride through the villages or to more commercial shopping areas. I enjoyed the many small bakeries in the area. Definitely recommend this hotel for hospitality, surroundings, and value. The owners were very helpful, giving us a free lift to the nearest hotel for supper, and arranging the transfer back to the airport the next morning. Deepika even helped us track down a tuktuk driver after we left something in his vehicle, and it was returned safely. The master give us a round trip in Negombo and pick us up to restaurant by his car and all are free of charge. Great place to use for a stopover if you are flying at an awkward time, or if you just want a relaxing environment to end your trip on! Loved the Sri Lankan breakfast and traditional music as well. Many Thanks. This is a great alternative to the low cost hotels in Negombo which I generally found to be noisy. I recommend it as a stopping point for travellers who are only doing a 1 night stay in Negombo before moving elsewhere in Sri Lanka. It is a family run guest house. The host are very helpful and kind. Our room is so comfortable, with a good shower and clean bathroom. The location might be a little far from beach side, but you can borrow a bicycle to look around. The bathroom was next door. Breakfast was simple but freshly cooked. There is no restaurant so you need to take tuk tuk ride for an evening meal. Villa Shade is set in a pleasant garden in a quiet location about 10 minutes tuk tuk ride from Negombo. We stayed 2 nights and it was a very good start to our month in Sri Lanka. We stayed 2 nights in Villa Shade at the end of October We have never been to Sri Lanka before, so we did not know what to expect and had lot of questions for our hosts, Shiraj and Dipika. We enjoyed lovely home-made food and fruit juices in the beautiful garden in the shade of palm trees, surrounded by flowers, birds and squirels. They kindly helped us with books, maps, travel tips, and Shiraj also generously showed us around Negombo in his own free time. We left their lovely home with a lot more confidence and knowledge. Our room had a shared bathroom, which was fine as we were the only guests, but 2 new self contained chalets are being built. We got a great start to our holiday and would stay there again. Actually, we stayed one night in this hotel before we fly back to our home. We liked the hospitality and design of the house. Its only four rooms for guests and very simple of live. The most interesting thing that you will be more closer with locals and see how they live and what are their habits. The location of Villa shade in quite area like small village but it is 15 minutes far from the Negombo city. I strongly recommend to stay in Villa Shade if you are looking for simple and quiet stay with fantastic services. Only had 1 night there with our 2 boys. Loved the beautiful garden with badminton and basketball which the boys loved. Very friendly hosts who welcomed us into their lovely home. Great, spotlessly clean rooms with kettle, tea, coffee etc. From the welcome drink on arrival to our picnic breakfast we had an early flight our hosts were extremely helpful and welcoming. Not near the beach but 15 mins from the airport. Sorry we could not stay longer. Sheeraj and Deepika took me on a tour of Negombo to make sure I saw all the sights. They also helped me sample some traditional Sri Lankan food. This is a wonderful, chilled place. I went straight from the airport when I arrived, and it was a gentle introduction to Sri Lanka, instead of having to negotiate Colombo straight away. The out of the way service of showing me around the town spending the day woith the visitor and being there to answer all my queries definitely goes a long way to make you feel you do get your moneys worth and more at this homestay. We stayed 3 nights in one of the new villas with our 2 young kids. The villa is nice and specially the semi outdoor bathroom is cool! The owner does everything needed to make your stay pleasant! There is a pool since last dec and the villas have optional airco. We used fan only but it was very hot. A little further away from the beach area of Negombo than anticipated, but this was not a drawback. The guesthouse provided cycles without extra charge which enabled us to ride to the beach area and into town - an easy ride on the back roads through villages. Airport transport also easily arranged. The room is good and well equipment but no AC offer. The environment is nice. But around guest house no restaurant near by, we must take tuk tuk for lunch and dinner.
