Отличный отель для всех категорий отдыхающих! Номера большие, чистые, есть горячая вода. Эко-отель, номера сделаны только из природных материалов. Персонал очень внимательный, готов помочь при любых вопросах. Обстановка в отеле почти домашняя за счет дружелюбия хозяев, ненавязчивого сервиса, уютной отделки и расположения отеля. Отель находится в очень выгодном положении в Унаватуне, так как одну сторону пляжа сейчас затопило, то со стороны Dunes Hotel очень быстро можно пройти на чистый и комфортный пляж. Так же недалеко находятся фруктовые палатки и до центральной дороги минут 5 ходьбы, если вы соберетесь посетить Галле. При всем своем выгодном положении отель находится в стороне от дороги и в номерах всегда тихо. Отличные завтраки!!!! Мы рекомендуем этот новый отель всем, кто собрался отдохнуть в Уне, это лучший отель в поселке. Отдыхали на побережье после трипа по стране. Отель хороший, хозяйка Женя супер, все наши пожелания учтены. Вообще, приятно поговорить на родном языке в чужой стране. Вкусные завтраки, персонал предупреждает все желания. Очень понравилось. В отеле чисто и очень красиво. Отдыхали в отеле в январе года. Замечательно было из нашей промозглой столицы убежать на солнечную Шри-Ланку. На Шри-Ланке не в первый раз, также как и в Унаватуне, есть с чем сравнивать. Выбирали отель осознанно - без кондиционера, без телевизора - отдохнуть от шумного города. Но отсутствие этих благ цивилизации абсолютно не напрягает, вполне достаточно мощного вентилятора. В остальном - со вкусом оформленные просторные номера, множество незаменимых мелочей в номере, идеальная уборка, замечательные завтраки. Прекрасный вид из окна на пруд, цветущий сад и джунгли. Причем эта красота находится буквально в десяти шагах от шумной улицы Унаватуны - стоит пройти всего несколько шагов и ты попадаешь в оазис тишины, прерывающейся пением птиц и всплеском воды в пруду. Правда иногда эту идиллию нарушает стая обезьян и павлинов, проникших из джунглей И есть еще практически домашний упитанный мангуст. Огромное спасибо владельцам отеля, Гаяну и Евгении - очень внимательные и отзывчивые люди, вкладывающие всю душу в свое дело. В любое время дня и ночи готовы вам помочь, дать совет об отдыхе и местных достопримечательностях. Считаем, что это самое замечательное место в Унаватуне, о котором начинаешь скучать и хочешь вернуться уже в самолете по пути домой Спасибо за замечательный отдых! До встречи, Дюнас! Очень понравилось, отличные номера, доброжелательный персонал, хозяева отеля вообше восхитительные люди , каждый вечер никуда не хотелось идти, хотелось сидеть на уютнейшей веранде. Будем рекомендовать всем кто поедет в Унаватуну. Мы молодая семейная пара, вернулись с Цейлона неделю назад. Впечатления самые самые положительные, мы любители Азии и уже достаточно много ее видели. Это очень приятный комфортный красочный остров. В отеле Dunes провели 7 ночей. После осмотра достопримечательностей и объезда центральной Шри ланки мы ни капельки не пожалели что выбрали отель Dunes. Потому что там есть все условия расслабиться, и насладиться солнышком и океаном. Отель уютный, с вежливым персоналом и очень комфортными номерами. В номерах удобные кровати, матрасы и белоснежное постельное белье. Это очень удобно для тех кто не говорит по английски, вы всегда сможет рассчитывать на ее помощь ; В отеле познакомились с туристами, которые возвращаются туда ни первый раз. Отель произвел самые положительные эмоции. Можно доехать до джангл бич на тук туке за 10 мин. Все кафе и рестораны в пару минутах ходьбы от отеля. Хотелось бы так же отметить что на территории отеля очень спокойно и тихо. Это был второй отель во время прибывания на Шри ланке. Отель подбирался тчательно, прочитав много отзывов. Надо сказать, отель оправдал все ожидания: тихий, в 5 мин ходьбы от океана,приятный дизайн, вкусный плотный завтрак. Номер располагался на втором этаже, вода поступала, горячая вода была всегда. Непревычно было: не плотная перегородка в туалет. Рекомендую для пляжного отдыха. Самолет приземлился в , визу получили подав запрос на сайте. С аэропорта прошлись пешком до остановки , сели и поехали. Через 4 часа добрались до отеля. Дороги - по полосе в обе стороны вокруг острова. Быстрый способ - по скоростной трассе на такси или експресе, но это только экономит половину времени так как трасса еще строится и пересадку необходимо делать на автовокзале, а там ехать по пробкам через Коломбооколо часа до експреса. Внутри отеля есть водоем с рыбками и кувшинками, утром прилетает много разноцветных птиц, иногда прилетают павлины, много зеленых попугаев, иногда приходят обезьяны. Вода чистая, в океане много черепах. Ездили на две екскурсии в Ялу и в Бот. Большой минус - за все нужно торговаться. Цены для местного населения одни, для отдыгающих другие, при этом качество услуг остается желать лучшего. Рекомендую самостоятельно посетить две пагоды и дикий пляж в джунглях, только не надейтесь что там никого нет- бизнес и там. Из минусов: нет телевизора, нет кондиционера, крыша не соприкасается со стенами поэтому вечером залетают комары, приходят ящерки. В остальном - очень интересный по дизайну отель, хозяин помог найти в дальнейшем жилье на долгий срок, все очень дружелюбные. Сетка над кроватью помогает спать без комаров. У нас был номер на втором этаже, над рестораном было немного шумно спать. Само расположение отеля находится чуть в стороне от основной тусовки, но до пляжа идти тихим шагом не более 2 минут по основной улице с кафешками и магазинчиками. Много разной живности можно увидеть около отеля. Отель абсолютно новый, а новыми вещами всегда приятно пользоваться. Удобные кровати, на самом деле белое постельное белье, и что для меня было важно — современный и минималистичный стиль в интерьере: белые стены, дерево, камень, нет ничего безвкусного, чего так много можно увидеть в отелях. Когда в пятницу и субботу будет громыхать дискотека, а вас по каким-либо причинам там не будет, вы оцените это неоспоримое преимущество. Еще одно преимущество некоторой удаленности — это завтрак отличного качества. Такого завтрака не будет в кафе на первой пляжной линии. Если вы будете жить в отдельно стоящих апартаментах, вы будете счастливым пользователем совершенно прекрасной ванной комнаты с новой белоснежной сантехникой и душем, пол которого выложен круглой галькой и крыша которого частично отсутствует, чтобы можно было видеть пальмы в саду, небо днем и совсем другое небо ночью, вообще звезды на Шри Ланке другие особенные, кто видел, знает. Я уже в Москве, и конечно грустно и конечно хочется вернуться…. Видно, что хозяева с большой любовью относятся к своему отелю. Чисто, очень уютно, много зелени и живности вокруг. Выбирали данный отель по отзывам и не ошиблись. Нам все очень понравилось. Рядом лавочка с фруктами и отличный ресторанчик Lucky Tuna - божественное карри с креветками. A 10 min tuktuk ride away from Galle, this place is located in the quiet stretch of Unawatuna, providing a perfect place to rest rignt at the centre of things. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The couple running this place was very helpful in advising during our stay and onard travel. Comfortable rooms, nice decoration, a small waterlilly lake with fish, a perfect tropic garden, good breakfast, centally located, very close to beach, amazing staff, relaxing like a home, serenity, a perfection.. They think your all needs and serve No doubt that this was one of the best hotels I have ever been in my many many trips Ideal place for couples! Bed is comfortable though little springy. The room is not air-cond but fan is enough when the weather is cold. Belreakfast is superb and I highly recommend this place to explore unawatunna beach! Not enough of this place. We initially booked 2 nights in this guesthouse and ended up staying for a week! Gayan and Jenny are very attentive and helpful hosts. Their service staff is always nice and smiling! The rooms are tastefully decorated the bathroom is awesome! The rooms located upstairs have a long balcony overlooking the garden with a pond and a swing. Breakfast is not to be missed we highly recommend the local breakfast! Awesome stay in Sri Lanka, we highly recommend it! I enjoyed the stay at the hotel so much so I ended up extending my stay for 4 more nights. Room was comfortable. Outdoor shower was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful. However, the room I got moved to was a bit noisy very thin walls , so I heard people talking all the time and the traffic noise as well. Overall a pleasant stay. Breakfast was amazing with a wide selection of choices and the coffee was French press coffee. The best breakfast I had throughout my 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. Will definitely come back again! My friend and I stayed originally for only two nights, which we quickly amended to 4. We absolutely loved our time here. The hotel itself is just beautiful, set in amongst the trees and pond and the rooms were amazing. Everything was perfect! Jenny and Gayan, the owners, made our trip what it was. They were incredible and helped us plan future travel with a driver and sightseeing trips. It was such a relaxing and peaceful stay. The breakfast was delicious and served beautifully. I would definitely stay again. This is a beautiful hotel with fantastic attention to detail in both design and food. The hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful. This is a must stop place on any visit to Sri Lanka. I will definitely go back. We stayed at Dunes Unawatuna during our last night in Sri Lanka. We chose the cottage room since we thought it will be quieter than the other rooms but actually it was not. The hotel concept of open ceilings meant that we were awake at 6 am by the neighbours living closed to the hotel due to the volume of the TV and muslim prays. The offset of this inconvenience was that we could enjoy a long yummy breakfast at the hotel do not miss the nice homemade mango passion fruit jam. We really enjoyed and recommend the Dunes Unawatuna hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive, we enjoyed the food, and the beach is great for swimming, running, and a range of good restaurants with tables on the beach. Very friendly and cosy atmosphere. Like a prodessional home stay. Arrived at midnight - owners Jenny and Gayan welcomed us in the cabin room. Nice touch! The cabins are Value for money. Huge rooms , an amazing bathroom and outdoor rain shower a small kitchenette for basic needs like a small fridge micro and coffee. The room had AC and was spectacular Guyan the owner -amazing guy who has developed this hotel on ancestral land with the help of an architect. Attention to detail is tremendous from the wood an doors acquired from old repuropsed timber to the hardware on doors made from old antique brass fixtures. Breakfast was amazing and there are several Srilankan choices that you have to let them know about the night before. Recommend egg hoppers. Guyan and Jenny recommended the Uduwalawe National park for an excursion which they organized for us. Saw about 20 wild elephant and crocs close up with a great safari drive. As close to an African safari you can get. Overall amazing place to stay! We absolutely loved our stay at Dunes. Fantastic location near the beach and all the nice shops and restaurants in Unawatuna. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way consistently to make our stay more enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious and the garden beautiful. The rooms were luxurious, so comfortable and clean. Could not recommend Dunes highly enough and we will definitely be back to stay again. Excellent rooms, comfortable beds with a a European-style mattress and a good shower. Beautiful jungle garden, delicious breakfast although extremely large portions! WiFi worked well. Just note the rooms, despite being of a very high standard, are non-AC. They seem to have thought of everything, with a cupboard of beach towels for guests to use, a chalkboard with useful information next to the breakfast area and a map of local attractions in the rooms. The staff are all wonderful and helped us out with some left luggage and also a packed breakfast for us on the way to the airport. I would highly recommend staying there to anyone. In a great location, near beach and shops and restaurants. Stayed in a spacious room with air conditioning. Some rooms only have fans. Rooms overlook a large pond in picturesque gardens. Nice linen, clean rooms and tasty breakfast. Great place with beautiful surroundings located strategically between the beach and main road. Rooms were clean and good size! The hotel has a beautiful garden with a lake and is decorated with typical Asian furniture making it an ideal place to relax. It is located 5 mins walk from the beach, shops and restaurants making it the right choice for people who are looking for a combination of sunbathing, sea and shopping. We have recently returned form a 2 night stay. We booked the cottage room which is located in the grounds and this was a fantastic experience. Earplugs are provided by the hotel, as was mosquito repellent and both were needed! The room has open rafters around the sides but once inside on a night we got under the mosquito net and felt quite safe, there are some amazing wildlife noises to listen to prior to inserting the earplugs! The shower is also in the open air but this was the best shower we had in Sri Lanka. The hotel is right in the heart of things and it was very easy to get tuk tuks to take us to local attractions. We went to the Jungle beach, which was great and to a turtle conservation, very enjoyable. We also visited Galle from here and went Whale watching which we booked with one of the tour shops on the main street. The staff were helpful and the breakfast choice good. We would definitely recommend this hotel. My girlfriend and I stayed Dunes 3 nights this past December and the hotel, staff and location were top notch. The Dunes is situation on nearly an acre of land, and unlike hotels in the area it was not an overbuilt concrete slab which seems to be the norm in Unawatuna. The Dunes is built mostly from reclaimed woods from various tea plantations from the Hill Country, along with restored vintage wooden doors that add a lot of character and charm. We stayed in one of the two deluxe cottage rooms, located about 50 yards from the main building and it was perfect. The room was really large, clean and well appointed with a safe, mosquito net and fan. The cottage did not have AC which turned out to not be a problem at all. The best part of the cottage was the outside shower. With its rain shower head, great water pressure and hot water that was available quickly, you felt like you were showering in the jungle — it was very cool. Breakfast was included and was top notch. There was a wide variety of dishes to choose from, along with coffee, tea and juices. Eating the jam was like getting a vitamin B12 shot every morning. Regarding the staff and owners. The staff were beyond nice, and accommodated every request without delay. They truly want your experience to not only be a memorable one, but. On the buzzing beach road and just a short walk from the beach but once through that gates would be forgiven for thinking out in the countryside. Highly recommended! The design is amazing. Every room have a perfect view. No air condition but fan is ok. All staffs are professional and helpful. Room is clean and comfortable. Should stay more to enjoy. We stayed 5 nights when we first arrived and then returned for a night prior to flying from Colombo. Exotic location which is a haven of restfulness, wonderfully styled rooms which were very comfortable, authentic Sri Lankan breakfast menu which was delicious. The manager, Roshan, was exceptional in attentiveness, hospitable and 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude. Would definitely stayed here again. The stay was great. Welcomed with tea and biscuits and fruit juice. Staff were lovely. Attentive and helpful. Always polite. Rooms were beautiful. We had the two cottages at the bottom. Setting was tranquil. It felt like you escaped the hustle of the town but were moment from where you were. Rooms were cleaned everyday and had lovely little visit touches like bite cream, ear plugs etc. Breakfast was great. Fab food. Traditional and we well as western. So catered for all needs. Recommended stay. We have stayed twice at this hotel and will be staying again in the future. The owners Gayan and Jenny are lovely and always there to help with your questions and advice. The staff work hard to take care of guests and the food at breakfast was superb with a choice of local and western. This is not a 5 star hotel and does not pretend to be however what it offers is quiet comfort like a home away from home in a lovely shady setting away from the crowds. Do yourself a favor and stay here. We were two girls staying at the hotel, lovely room! Location is really nice, close to the beach, and no noise from the parties. The owners are lovely people, and really helpful. I would definitely stay here again, and the breakfast is to die for! We really enjoyed the hotel layout. Owners were very helpful with info and were easy going. The room was comfortable. The shower excellent. It was an easy walk to the beach and plenty restaurants. The only downside - it is located near to the street which can make it difficult to sleep due to open ventilation space between the ceiling and walls. You hear all the street noise. We had the misfortune to stay a night where a loud rave party up the hill continued throughout the night until at least am. Though not right on the beach, this hotel is an oasis, I felt welcome every time I walked back in the front gate. My room was lovely, with old wooden shutters, comfortable bed, fabulous bathroom. The concept let me think of aman resort style. The 2nd floor view is very nice, at night,we can see the firefly and hear the frog, with the mosq net, we have a good sleep. Thanks for staff to freely upgrade our rooms. We loved our stay at dunes, everything about the place was fantastic. The room we were given was so luxurious, a spacious room that had been furnished beautifully. It was cleaned immaculately every day. The bathroom was excellent too, with a lovely big rainfall shower and complimentary products are amazing. The breakfast that is available was always very good, with 6 different options to choose from we were always very satisfied, included in the breakfast was fresh fruit, freshly made fruit juices and tea or coffee, it was all delicious. Gayan and Jenny, the owners, helped us so much with arranging transport and gave us so much information about Sri Lanka, and what we can do with our time in Unawatuna. They were always so chatty and happy, what fantastic hosts! We ended up staying for nearly two weeks because we loved it so much! It was wonderful, hospitable and a gem. I loved the rooms. This hotel was my favorite so far in terms of environment and aesthetics. However, I wish the fans were a bit bigger or stronger in the rooms. The breakfast could have been better; I loved the fresh fruit but the eggs need improvement and coffee needs to be stronger. We stayed only one night in this hotel, because I had already booked another hotel while still in Germany. We would have loved to stay longer in this hotel. Our room was beautiful decorated, spacious and clean. The view from the balcony in the graden was very nice. We recommend this hotel and if we visit Sri Lanka again, we will definitly stay in this hotel longer. The restaurant has good prices. I had a really lovely time at Dunes. Breakfast was included in the cost of my room and it was delicious every day. I also spent time chatting with the owners on more than one occasion. They are really lovely and very knowledgeable about the area. I really appreciated their recommendations. As a solo traveler, this was a wonderful place to relax. There are also shops and restaurants very close to hotel. Set back from road, Dunes Unawatuna Hotel was a relaxing place to spend a few days. Not located on the beach but not far to walk. Small pond located in garden area attracts many different types of birds in late afternoon and was nice just to sit in shade with cold drink and observe. Booked two nights but finished up staying for four. The hotel is quite new. The rooms are spacious and comfortable equipped with huge beds, good mosquito nets and nice bathrooms. The garden is a small botanical garden dominated by a big tree and a pond where you can watch lots of birds and sometimes even monkeys. For breakfast you can chose between 6 options ranging from toast to coconut roti. The staff is very attentive and friendly. We really liked our stay. We had a fantastic stay at Dunes Hotel. It looks like a lodge, with beautiful colonial interior. The rooms have a nice outdoor view, the location is tranquil but very close to the beach and nice restaurants. The staff is very friendly and caring. We did not have breakfast, but the Italian coffee served was one of the best we had so far. Overal definitely worth staying in this hotel! I had an amazing stay at Dunes! I was in that solo travellers headspace where I just wanted to feel safe and comfortable, and have a bit of luxury. Dunes gave me exactly that. First of all, the hotel itself is cool. Food is incredible. All prepared from scratch for you - which means you just have to expect it to take a while to cook. Time to read a good book or have a beer and chat to residents or Gayan! Suitable for families, couples, solos or groups. Which is perfect in Unawatuna, as if you want to have a drink, dine out, hit the beach or going to a party there are heaps of options a few minutes walk down the road. Having booked last minute for Xmas Day we had to forego a beach front bungalow as they were all booked out. We took a punt on Dunes and were so glad we did. Although not on the beach it is in a fantastic location just 4 minute walk. For a relatively new guest house, the attention to detail which has gone into every aspect and feature of the rooms and cottages is second to none. The beds are the most comfortable bed you will sleep on until you get home to your own Thanks so much to the staff for their assitance, warm welcome and constant friendliness throughout our stay. Highly recommend this hotel and cant wait to get back. We stayed for four nights in one of the cottages and had a wonderful time. The grounds and rooms are beautifully designed around a central pond. The outdoor shower in the cottage was a lovely feature and beds are comfortable. Staff are welcoming, accommodating and helpful. The breakfast served is delicious, fresh fruits, fruit smoothie, homemade jams and eggs cooked to order or you could try the Sri Lankan options. Evening meals are not always available but it is worth eating there when it is, we had a delicious fish curry, the food was far better than restaurants around. This was a great accommodation, my favorite out of quite a few in Sri Lanka. We picked the bungalow which was set aside from the main building and incredibly cute The overall design of the hotel and room was done in very good taste. The location is just a short walk to the beach in a quiet, jungle-like setting, complete with monkeys next door that wake you up in the morning! The couple that runs the place is incredibly attentive and helpful, they try very hard to make it a good experience for guests. Enjoyed our stay thoroughly even though it was just for 1 night. Room was very comfortable and clean. Bathroom was lovely - with refreshing shower. Gayan and Jenny are lovely hosts. We stayed in one of the cottages right around New Years. We had spent hours searching for a place in Mirissa, and we wanted to avoid this problem when going to Unawatuna so we looked for a place online. The location was great, close to the beach and near lots of other local restaurants and shops. The room was large, clean and a refreshing upgrade from the other places we had stayed. It also had a beautiful outdoor bathroom with hot water. Although the cottages are set in a very natural setting, there were several bug repellants plugged into the outlets. There was no ac but we were comfortable without it. The owner and his girlfriend were extremely helpful and knowledgable. They had services available but were not pushy at all. Came down to Dunes from Colombo where we work and live as two couples to meet other friends who were also down for weekend fun. Nice clean rooms, we stayed in the bungalow rooms which had high ceilings and were cool enough with just the fan. Some nice wildlife, a local Kingfisher hangs out around the pond and a mongoose was near the bungalow most mornings. Bed was comfy and the string hoppers for breakfast were nice too! Location wise great for walking to bars and restaurants along the beach and stumbling back home after one of the beach parties. We had one night where we went home early and the noise of the beach parties was drowned out by the fan so a good balance of the two. We stayed here early on in our stay in Sri Lanka and had I known that most of the beds were going to be thin mattresses on top of a wooden base, I would have stayed here for longer as the bed was like a normal sprung one and so comfortable, easily the best sleep if the trip. It was also nice to be away from the main road but still very close to the beach and restaurants. Friendly staff welcomed us to a new timber hotel. Nice fittings, internet and fairly quiet at night compared to other hotels in Unawatuna. Great cotton sheets on the beds Minor gripes - people walking in room upstairs can be a little noisy squeaky wooden floorboards if you take a ground floor room; rooms are open allowing the outside in but mosquito nets provided. Altogether a comfortable place to stay, nice food and short 5 min walk to the beach. Overall this is perhpas the best small hotel I hve stayed in this year taking into account all factors including quality and value for money. The location is perfect for me - not on the beach where it can be noisy but just a few minutes walk to the beach. The property has clealrly been built with eco-fiendliness in mind. They use LED lighting, solar water heating. The building has been constructed with local materials many from the exisiting site and building that was there before. This is actually a very new propoerty. The owners, Gayan and his partner, are geneuinely helpful and friendly with a great attitude toward their guests. But the young staff both full-time and occasional are also striving and succeeding in keeping high standards of service. The rooms are simple but the beds are comfortable with quility linen, the mosquito nets are effective. The bathroom is also simple but again has everything needed and it works well. No complaints whatsoever about the food especially the breakfast. Again though the owners attention is apparent in the choice of plates, cutlery etc. They have good with what is clealry good quality. So the balance that they have achieved is simplicity but with good quality materials. This certainly appeals to me and I would have though to many others too - I hope so. I will stay at this property again without doubt. The hotel is a few minutes walk to the beach. The room was a good size. Breakfast was large and tasty though more expensive than some other places. Also make sure you go to breakfast early or you might not get a table. This is obviously not their fault but something to bear in mind before high season. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a veggie restaurant across the road where I had some good meals. Our stay was Great. The Owner is Sri Lanken, who has spent quite a bit of time in Australia. He quickly organizes any transport, or excursion you may need. His staff are great, very friendly, genuinely nice guys, who can also cook some great food. The rooms are very modern, almost industrial style. Alot of concrete, very open plan. The room we had was very nice. There is no air conditioning in the room we had ground floor , but there is a sufficient fan. The large beds are covered by a mosquito net, which is needed, as the rooms are slightly open, allowing air flow. It was a great place to stay, and less than a 5min walk to the beach. All in all it was a good experience as mentioned above. Very close to the sandy beaches and the beach side restaurants and the many beach shops offering so much beachwear. Gayan, the owner of Dunes is a pretty cool guy. Gayan and Jane went out of their way to make sure their customers were comfortable and felt right at home. Dunes is an ideal place to stay for all those who want to experience the true 'Sri Lankan Hospitality' Overall the environment was warm, friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is aethetically designed with wooden floors, beautiful fittings and large windows that allow plenty of light which makes the room even more pleasant. I will be recommending Dunes to all my family and friends who decide to visit Unawatuna next. Property is newly build thus all amenities that one needs in a room is properly in place. Owner, Gayan is quite helpful and knows about the locations that you would want to visit around Unawatuna. Overall, highly recommended for the value it offers for the price asked and Nice Location. I arrived late but Gayan was there to meet me. The room was very modern, spacious and clean, and nicely equipped. It was great to be in an oasis of calm but near the beach. I am thankful to Gayan and his team for making my stay so lovely. Great value for money and no one is trying to rip you off. Gayan organised a driver for us to visit the Hill Country making this process a lot easier for us. After a long trip around Sri Lanka, this was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beach. Dunes is relatively new and its owners had some refreshing ideas with the place. The general atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming and feels really different from all the other places we visited during our vacation. It helps that both owners spend a lot of time abroad and they really have a passion to make Dunes into something special. There is a certain no-stress atmosphere about the place, which makes you feel right at home. The main building stands out from other buildings in Unawatuna with a unique design and has a comfortable terrace. The cottage we stayed in was clean, roomy and the large shower-with-a-view was a big plus. If you want to stay in a relaxing hotel while enjoying the beautiful beach, then look no further. We definitely recommend this place! Tom and Eva. This is a brand new hotel which is in a different class to lots of other guesthouses in Una. I stayed in a cottage. It had nice views of gardens and trees and I saw some mongooses and the langurs. My favourite part of the cottage was the open air bathroom, heated by solar panels. Having a shower by the light of the moon and being able to see not only stars but also fireflies in the trees was a lovely way to relax before bed. I found this new place while checking the reviews on Agoda. It was the best place on the island out of the ones I stayed while doing a round trip. For me best things at Dunes were the location, the big garden and the mattresses! I saw the mongoose for the first time in my life! The building is a well designed one with spacious rooms with quality mattresses and clean linen. The bathroom has a rain shower. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They arrange tours around the area and will give you important information about traveling in Sri Lanka. I met lots of nice travelers in Dunes and felt comfortable, safe and homely.
