Spencer Aimes is just your average, undercover, government-hired super-assassin accustomed to a life of exotic European locales, flashy sports cars and even flashier women. But when he meets Jen Kornfeldt, a beautiful, fun-loving computer tech recovering from a bad break-up, he finds true love...and happily trades international intrigue for domestic bliss. Three years later, Spencer and Jen are still enjoying a picture-perfect marriage - that is, until the morning after Spencer's 30th birthday. That's when Spencer and Jen learn he's the target of a multi-million dollar hit. Even worse, the hired killers have been stalking the happy couple for years, and could be anyone: friends, neighbors, the grocery store clerk, even that crabby old guy shuffling across the street. Now Spencer and Jen are on the run for their lives. As their suburban paradise turns into a paranoid game of dodge-the-bullet, they must find out who wants Spencer dead and why, all the while trying to save their marriage, manage his in-laws, keep up neighborly appearances ... and just plain survive.
A vacationing woman meets her ideal man, leading to a swift marriage. Back at home, however, their idyllic life is upset when they discover their neighbors could be assassins who have been contracted to kill the couple..
One thing comes to mind, that this is an off-beat, slowed down and less entertaining version of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". I might be wrong, but it sure does look that way.

I thought this movie was a comedy, but I didn't laugh once throughout the movie, nor did it manage to make me smile. Sure the movie moved forward at a decent pace, but where did the comedy go? There are some nice twists throughout the movie, but that is basically all that this movie have working for it.

If you have seen the movie with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", then this movie comes off as a cheap imitation, and your money would be better spent on "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", mark my words.

The performances by Kutcher, Heigl and Selleck were top notch, no doubt about it, but the movie just didn't work in their favor. There was something missing from this movie to make it stand out, to make it work as a whole experience. And the action scenes were also adequately nice to look at, good action, fast car chases and alright fight scenes. But that wasn't enough to keep this movie floating.

This was a sore disappointment to me, and it is not a movie that I will be returning to for a second viewing.
I was ready for a cute, fluffy "romantic comedy" kind of movie, with some action scenes spicing it all up. But this failed on many levels: 1) First and foremost, there is zero chemistry between Kutcher and Heigl. Just none. I'm having trouble recalling a moment in the movie where they even kissed. They seemed to have a relationship more like sibling rivalry than marriage.

2) The movie couldn't decide if it wanted to be a comedy or an action film. The action sequences were rarely funny at all. And bits that were supposed to be funny (I think), where Kutcher almost shoots someone because he's suspicious of them, actually were kind of creepy as some innocent store employee nearly gets killed for no reason.

3) The "plot" was pathetic. Partway through I guessed who was "behind it all" and said how stupid it would be if I was right. Sadly, I was right.

4) There is no character development at all, so it's impossible to really care about any of these people, even in terms of a silly comedy. They were all silly caricatures, as shallow and insubstantial as the plot.
Just as I was beginning to hope that she’d (Heigl) find a part that called for intelligence and sophistication and backbone, she plays another uptight naif.
