When his mentor is taken captive by a disgraced Arab sheik, a killer-for-hire is forced into action. His mlission: kill three members of Britain's elite Special Air Service responsible for the death of his sons.
Loosely based on a true story, Killer Elite pits two of the worlds' most elite operatives - Danny, a ruthless killer-for-hire (<a href=">Jason Statham) and Hunter, his longtime mentor (<a href=">Robert De Niro) - against the cunning leader of a secret society of former Special Air Service operatives('Clive Owen'). Covering the globe from Australia to Paris, London and the Middle East, Danny and Hunter are plunged into a highly dangerous game of revenge and deception - where things are not always what they appear to be.
The Stath as he is increasingly referred to opted for something with a little more complex story than usual. I've seen 'The Bank Job' which he was in and it was good, although the complex 'Revolver' did my head in.

As for this film, we have Stath leading a team in a supposedly based on a true story tale, as assassins aim to get some confessions and kills to satisfy an Arab sheik who has hijacked Stath's friend. Add in some geo-political complexities, and Clive Owen working for some shadowy ex-SAS group and it all becomes hard to follow if you don't concentrate.

Action packed it isn't really but there's enough to keep you all going. It's interesting, and it's filmed in a reasonable but not over the top way. Most fun bit was the collection of old cars in chase scenes (film is based in 1980).

De Niro is in this film in a bit part, but he doesn't seem to be trying and seems to be a bit misplaced here. He's a great actor yet this is another one of this throwaway parts he seems to have building up on his CV over the past decade. It's a sad sight.

Beyond that there's not much more to report on this film.

It's alright in some ways, but a bit flat. Will pass an evening viewing, but keep expectations low. There's far better Statham stuff out there.
This film is loosely based on Ranulph Fiennes' the Feather Men, a quite incredible true story of an assassination contract taken out on 4 SAS soldiers involved in the Oman conflict. The film makes the cold blooded unfeeling assassins the good guys whist making the murder of these brave, elite soldiers an irrelevance! If anyone had not noticed the last intended victim was Sir Ranulph Fiennes and without the intervention of Spike and the Feather men he would never have gone on to become "The worlds greatest living explorer". When I sat down to watch this film I had no idea it was based on the story until to my horror it started to unfold, I have longed for someone to turn this incredible story into film - what a disappointment to find that this was it!! Why would you portray a killer of innocent soldiers as a hero?? that said if you do not know the story it is not a bad film. Should you want the real story, buy the book.
This clumsy action movie feels too generic to be real. The film attempts to add an element of sophisticated sociopolitical commentary to the typical Jason Statham head-busting shoot-'em-up, but only ends up draining it of visceral thrills.
Yes, it is based on The Feather Men by British adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes. The book tells the story of four British Army soldiers, including two members of the Special Air Service, who are assassinated by a hit squad known as "The Clinic". The murders are carried out over a 17-year period, on the orders of a Dubai sheikh whose son was killed by British forces in Oman during a battle with communist guerrillas. a5c7b9f00b
