His latest crime lands him to finding something extraordinary, a key to a chunk of land in the Pacific Ocean. Sean teams up with his stepfather, Hank, to get there, and they meet an overeager chopper pilot, and his teenage daughter, to get to Sean's grandfather, Alexander, only to discover the mysterious island.
After going to the center of the earth, 17-year-old Sean Andeson goes on a journey to find The Mysterious Island, a legend discovered by Jules Vern. Assisted by his stepfather, Hank, the pair team up with a helicopter pilot and his beautiful daughter to find Sean's lost grandfather, whom Sean believes is on the island. The team encounters monsters, witty remarks, and a deadly conflict along the way.
Journey 2: The Mysterious Island is a 3D science fiction adventure film directed by Brad Peyton. This film is filled with wonders and adventures in the middle of the forest surrounded by the mysterious creatures. The screenplay is quite typical and repetitious as well as the story is quite predictable and disappointment when compares to the first sequel and their books. Also the 3D effects are rather poor. As usual 3D is pathetic in Chennai so cannot able to enjoy the essence film narrative, and it's creating a visual tension rather than the 3d dimensional depth on the screen. Director Brad Peyton has done a decent job and he is quite innovative with unique comedy and special effects adventure that plays like a twisted, surrealistic film followed by the sequel of the 2008 3D Sci-fi adventure film 'Journey to the Center of the Earth'. A good performance has done by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Especially the scene where Dwayne Johnson plays a song for Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson) is something unexpected scene in the theater, its sweet and funny. The Poor side of Dwayne Johnson is that, he was trying hard to perform the romance. The other cast such as Josh Hutcherson, Vanessa Hudgens, Michael Caine and Luis Guzman were done their job well. In particular Luis Guzman's unique humorous performance is quite interesting. The story centers on Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson) and his stepfather Hank (Dwayne Johnson) who both decodes the coded message which is sent by Sean's grandfather Alexander Anderson (Michael Caine) and find out the location of a mysterious island where the grandfather Alexander Anderson got trapped for years. Sean and Hank planing to go to that mysterious island. Later the movie reveals that how they were reached mysterious island and rescued Sean's grandfather from that island. This movie could have done better. I should have scored 5/10 but because of Vanessa Hudgens I add 2 (no need to explain). This movie should have been a family oriented movie, well it still is. What is lacking is the taste to impress the audience, failed to bring the audience into the movie itself and feel the adventure themselves. Just look for example in Jurassic Park (part 1), Avatar and many other adventure movies that capture the heart of the audience. Right music, right scenes could make things better and adventure films don't need or require good scripts unless you wanna make a drama movie. <br/><br/>Flaws, first I don't see or can't feel any fear from any actors in portions they should have. Secondly, excitement is no where also in moments there should be. Probably this lack a drama taste. Jurassic Park has it and that makes it great. <br/><br/>This movie has a lot of potential and endless possibilities to capture the audience heart but they simply throw them away as if this is poorly budgeted movie. I have no problems with the cast, the thing of the matter is somewhere on the production has a lot of unforgivable flaws. Sorry this film is not worth it to be recommended.
The movie flies by pleasantly, and is then instantly forgettable. Perhaps Jules Verne can explain the science of that.
It is considered a sequel to <a href="/title/tt0373051/">Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008)</a> (2008) as the character of Sean Anderson is in both films, but the story is completely different with a whole new adventure so you don't have to see the first one to understand this one. Yes. A short called "Daffy's Rhapsody" is shown along with the movie in theaters. It takes the 1950 Capitol Record song "The Daffy Duck Rhapsody", sung by legendary Mel Blanc, and puts animation to it. Coincidentally, the short is falling on Daffy Duck's 75th anniversary, as the character debuted in 1937. (1) The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne, (2) Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift, and (3) Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. The three books all pertain to islands, and all three of the books shown in the film contain a partial map within the first few pages of the books. When the maps are placed on top of each other (with the compass points lined up to north) and a light is shone from beneath, the full map and coordinates of Verne's "Mysterious Island" are revealed. a5c7b9f00b
