An international police inspector named "Gadget", is the inept inspector who is on the trail of M.A.D. and their sinister leader Dr. Claw. Along with his overly eager niece Penny and his trusted dog Brain, He is determined to bring down M.A.D. Unfortunately, Gadget is not good at his job and most of his gadgets are not much help either. So, Penny and Brain do all of the hard work for him, but let him take all of the credit.
Bumbling Inspector Gadget battles the forces of M.A.D. with the aid of the various gadgets he has on his person: pop-up rollerskates, extensible arms, a helicopter-hat, etc. Despite the arsenal at his disposal (which is just as likely to misfire as work properly), Gadget never seems to be able to catch Dr. Claw, the mastermind behind M.A.D. Quite often, in fact, any success that Gadget might have is often caused by his niece Penny and her dog, who Gadget consistently fails to recognize as working incognito on the case.
I LOVE this show!! I used to watch it all the time when it was on Nickelodeon (you know back when it was cool, and all of the shows they aired DIDN'T suck.), and I never missed an episode. Don Adams rocked on this show just like on "Get Smart" (which this show kind of takes off from) The best part of the show was when Penny would always solve the crime, and Gadget would always walk right into it, and get the credit (Sure it's not a good thing, but this show made it cool). I wish I was like Inspector Gadget because he has all of those gadgets like the umbrella, and the roller skates. That would be so cool if I was like Gadget, except I'd be way smarter. P.S. Don't see the movie it sucked.<br/><br/>This classic gets a 10/10.
a cool cartoon. very funny!!! there is a movie coming out, i doubt it will ever top the cartoon. i loved the cartoon. it was a never ending rendevous with dr. claw. the characters were great!!! penny and brain always saved uncle gadget's butt, and then chief quimbe, "this message will self destruct." classic! dr. claw was very villainous, with his sinister voice and laugh. i love the fact that his face was never shown. and don't forget, mad cat. that laugh seems to echo through your head for a life time. a good theme song, to get things started on the right foot, one of my favorite cartoons.
