okay, so i grew in a small, mainly Christian based town where nothing bad could ever happen, right? wrong. sex, drugs, alcohol. all were prevalent. this movie perfectly showcases the reality that is high school life. and, by the way, most of the people in this movie weren't twenty five. any person that fails to see how this relates to a teenager's life seriously needs a reality check. EVERYONE DEALS WITH THIS STUFF! good girls and boys can one day find themselves in uncomfortable situations of questionable legality. every person faces a moment of faltering morals. growing up isn't pretty or easy. this movie is a perfect example of the ugliness and missteps in the lives of so many teenagers around the country and around the world. my parents could certainly see the similarities between this movie and the dirty side of growing up.

Stuck on a planet within a spacial "sinkhole," Tom pressures Tuvok to take an alien woman who fancies him for his own.
Supervisor Yost
(as Paul S. Eckstein)
A Voyager shuttle, manned by Lt. Cmdr. Tuvok, Ensign Paris and The Doctor and pulled into a subspace gravity well, crashes on a Class "D" planet existing within it. With the shuttle too damaged to fly, the away team befriends Noss, an alien woman who crashed on the planet several seasons before them. As weeks pass, the survivors grow close. Noss learns English and teaches Tuvok and Paris how to survive the other aliens and hunt for food. Noss finds herself in love with Tuvok and frustrated that he will not allow his emotions to love her back. Through a series of flashbacks, we see a young, rebellious Tuvok who was in love and fought against traditional Vulcan teachings. Back on Voyager, only hours have passed since the ship lost contact with the shuttle. Janeway and the crew must find a way to rescue their shipmates before a local alien ship closes the phenomenon permanently.โ€”Meribor
Tuvok communicating his feelings for Noss with a mind-meld was a suggestion of Tim Russ.
Tuvok states that the crew complement of Voyager is 152. This is where it stood at The 37's (1995); in the three seasons and plus since, Kes has left, anywhere from 17 to 25 crewmen have been killed, and only Seven of Nine has been added to the crew (by contrast, Paris mentions that they are 50,000 light-years from the Alpha Quadrant, which takes into account the 20,000 light years Voyager has traveled since the beginning of the series).
Tom Paris: You know something? I always thought that beneath that cold Vulcan exterior lay a... even colder Vulcan interior; but now, I'm convinced you're a hopeless romantic.
Tuvok: There is no need to insult me, Mr. Paris.

I don't love that there's a big, emotional Tuvok episode where Tuvok is played by someone else. Like, I get it, it's flashback, but we've done that with Tuvok before (in the episode called... uh... "Flashback"). And Tim Russ is a great actor! Give him something meaty to do! Anyways, aside from that it's not the worst of Voyager, but it's far from the best. The plot is interesting on paper, but boring in execution. Also it's a waste of the fabulous Lori Petty.
