Our hero, Cooper, awakes to find himself nauseous, weak and covered in webbing, hanging from the ceiling of an office where, just minutes ago, he started his new job. As he struggles out of his slimy prison he comes face to face with his opponent - a grotesque, powerful and very angry bug. All 3 ft of it. And so begins a hideous, nail-biting, comedic, all-action adventure to find a safe haven while constantly outwitting an infestation of monstrous proportions. As Cooper embarks on his journey, he befriends a ragtag group of survivors including Sara, a feisty determined female. Will they make it to safety before they are picked off one by one? And what other surprises are in store for our group of unlikely heroes?
A slacker awakes to find himself weak and wrapped in a webbing; after realizing that the world has been taken over by giant alien insects, he wakes a ragtag group of strangers and together they fight for survival.
This sounded goofy and I really didn't want to watch it but I did, and was pleasantly surprised by it.

Despite it being a small movie, the special effects were decent. Not great, but good enough to not be distracting, and this was really the key that made the movie watchable, since there were plenty of giant insects attacking people. The actors weren't bad, though largely forgettable, save for Ray Wise, who played the Devil in Reaper and amusingly hams it up here as the pooch-loving, ex-military father of the hero.

I didn't much care for the characters apart from Wise's, but the movie kept the action going at a good pace anyway and there weren't too many scenes where I got bored.
This latest Sci-Fi channel production has moments, but not enough.

Horror comedies can be done well (Lake Placid, Tremors, Anachnaphobia), but the director and writer better know what they're doing, since the balance of the two genres is difficult. This writer and director didn't quite have it. They fall into the trap of trying too hard to be funny.

The lead actor reminds me of Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate, although the film is obviously shooting for an Animal House type guy. His acting is passable, but the character is written with such juvenile angst that the comedy comes off awkward, even pathetic. In fact, most of the actors play well, but the over wrought screenplay sinks their efforts. Some one-liners are funny, but they're fired off with about as much subtlety as a cannon blast aimed at your face from six inches away. After several salvos of this heavy-handed delivery, the approach becomes a nuisance.

Why things are happening is never explained, only vaguely referenced. Consistency is non-existent: for example, bugs ruthlessly coordinate lethal attacks of walk-on characters with lethal precision, but suddenly can't seem to do anything right when it comes to killing off a lead character. Gruesome deaths are commonplace, and blood flows freely. Characters constantly argue over anything and everything, to a point where your ears start to bleed.

Watchable, but not in the same league as some movies of the horror/comedy blended genre.
