IV slideshow issues

However the formal rules prescribes to not use slideshows for this case, there are nuances.
Issue severity
Interestingly, this issue does not fit into any of recently published issue severity grades.
In this case there's no loss of content or formatting, and the original UX is preserved.
These are simple slideshows with plain captions in the source.
Note: web interface shows an ellipsis if a caption is too long, but this can't be a template issue. There's no mention of caption length anywhere. And it would be really impractical: fully righteous slideshows can have long captions too.
The law and justice
As we all remember, 6.4 was a relatively late clarification. Before that everyone, including admins, interpreted the rules as "slideshows must be used" for this case.
And this clarification made sense for some cases, primarily non-slideshow galleries and more complex slideshows.
After the clarification, I rechecked my templates and transformed slideshows into photos. In the first place, the ones where old rules made it harder to accomplish good user experience.
I also edited my other templates and reported issues for other's where I could remember and had time. But it's easy to miss something.
No one had reported these issues for these templates during all that time. If this were done during the contest, better yet with a template that fixes it, I could not object at all.
But at this very late point it feels, to be honest, a bit unfair, given the consideration about issue severity.
Bottomline
I think the severity of the issue is questionable and at this stage, with no possibility to fix the problem, and without a better template, this issue could be treated as non-critical. Possibly with a post-contest fix, as admins has requested for other issues.
