Step 7. Connect your phone to PC using USB cable and click "Unlock".

Some tips and FAQ

1. Sync some time before rebooting into fastboot mode. Like sms, call logs or take one or two pics. Sometimes this helps

2. Disable/delete other devives from i.mi.com. also locate your current device and ring it as well.

3. If you see 360 hour warning then log out from your mi account in the device and also remove your device from the i.mi.com. try unlocking with new account. Don't bind the device with the new account. Try firatst without binding. Then if it asks for binding then try that. Recommended version for 360hr issue, 2.2.406.5 of unlock tool. Its uploaded in the group and link given here in the end. For first account use the latest miunlock tool. For second account use the recommended version. If the recommended version doesn't work then try other versions ( link at the bottom). NOTE: You will have to wait 360hrs. there is no trick to bypass it. these steps used to work but they don't anymore. You can still try them if you w ant to

4. Binding the device was not necessary for mido and for whyred as well. But looks like its compulsory now. And 360hr limit is being enforced as well. So just give various tips a try. if you have tried everything already then there is no getting around 360 hour limit. Just wait patiently and try after 360 hours. If you think of trying again after 24-48 hours and sign out and sign in. This 360 hour limit will start again. So do all yout experiment in first 24-48 hours. Try everything. If you don't succeed in this time the just wait 360hours.

5. You don't need permission to unlock the device as of 15june but just like binding the account is now needed. Permission page can return after i am done with this article or after 1 year or after 1 week. Just visit http://en.miui.com/unlock if you don't get asked to apply for permission then its not needed. If you do see permission page then apply for the permission. It takes only few hours to get the permission.

6. You can also try all of the above mention tips using different version of unlock tool. Links to older version given below.

7. If you get network related error then try after sometime. Or change from wifi to mobile data. Reboot device. If mi unlock tool gives you network related error then use mobile hotspot instead of wifi. Reboot your laptop/device. If still nothing then wait. It will go away in few hours or minutes.

8. If you are somehow having trouble enabling OEM unlock then skip this step.

9. if you get some weird error when you try to bind your account from developer options. Error number doesn't matter. do what its written here already.
try sign out and sign in again.
try mobile data from other sim card if using dual sim.
try 3g/4g
try wifi
try after few hours
try next day
stuff like this...just general stuff. there are no fixes for those random errors. do everything and hope for best. In the end try again later. thats all you can do.

10. Some people also claim that you need to wait 72hrs for binding your account from developer options when you purcahse new device or sign into new device. as far as i know there is no such thing and its just what i said..try later..and it works after a day or two in either case wait 72hrs

There is no 100% working method. Just try everything mentioned above and keep your finger crossed. It might work and could also fail. Good luck.
