Set in riot-torn, near-future Los Angeles, 'Hotel Artemis' follows the Nurse, who runs a secret, members-only emergency room for criminals.
The long and the short of it: The best part of Hotel Artemis is the concept. It&#39;s a decent crime thriller that&#39;s too heavy on drama and too light on action, comedy, and intrigue. It also takes way too long to get into the thick of the plot. It&#39;s slow. A ninety minute movie that feels like two-hours. <br/><br/>And even after the movie gets to &quot;the good stuff&quot; it still gets bogged down by numerous character moments that ultimately proved little (or meant little). Writer/Director Drew Pierces&#39; insistence on giving so many characters development undercut what proved to be the main plot-line of the movie. It needed a thoroughly executed main focus. OR just to be really funny. Or have amazing action. Or have lots of twists and turns. This movie was merely okay across all those fronts.<br/><br/>On a positive note, i&#39;ll say that Sofia Boutella and Dave Batista were both terrific. The characters. The performances. Jodie Foster was great as-well, i just wish that her character had been given a more well executed story-line.<br/><br/>But believe me when I say that it&#39;s not a bad movie. It&#39;s OK. Matinee all the way.
This movie was poor from start to finish. Plot was lacking. Never felt engaged with the characters. A complete mess of a film. Great cast but poorly executed. Would save your money on this one.
Like many movies set in colourfully bleak futures, Hotel Artemis can’t sustain the novelty of its initial world-building.
