FIVE teenagers have been arrested in Belgium over the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl who killed herself days after the attack.
Images of the assault in the city of Ghent were shared online, Belgian media reports.
The teenage victim, from Gavere, went to meet a friend in the Westerbegraafplaats cemetery in Ghent on May 15.
But four other people lay in wait and allegedly gang-raped her before sharing photos and videos online.
Four days later, the teenage victim killed herself.
A vigil is being held this evening which is being attended by the Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, reports Het Laatste Nieuws.
Her father told Flemish newspaper Het Nieuwsblad: "The images were the last straw for her... her entire world collapsed.”
Her family were later told about the gang-rape by one of the girl's friends.
Police identified the five alleged offenders after analysing the social media images.
The suspects are three minors aged 14 and 15 and two adults aged 18 and 19.
Two of the minors are reportedly brothers.

The five alleged attackers, all believed to be from Ghent, have reportedly been arrested by police for rape, indecent assault and the taking and dissemination of photographs likely to constitute an attack on the integrity of a person.
Mayor of Gavere Denis Dierick said he knew the victim “very well' and described her death as "pure horror" and "an inhuman tragedy”.
Some of the suspects are believed to have already been known to police.
The prosecution have only confirmed that the five young people are suspected of "events that occurred shortly before the victim's death".
A prosecutors' spokesperson added: “Three minors were placed in a closed institution by the juvenile judge in Ghent and two adults (both 18 years old) were arrested by the investigating judge in Ghent for offences that would have occurred shortly before the death of the victim.
“The council chamber in Ghent decided today that the detention of the two adults will be extended by one month.”
The two young people aged 18 and 19 will today appear in court, which will consider if there was an aggravating circumstance that led to the victim's death.

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide.
It doesn't discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society - from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.
It's the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.
Yet it's rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.
That is why The Sun launched the You're Not Alone campaign.
The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.
Let's all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others... You're Not Alone.

Charlize Theron has exposed herself on Instagram. The Mad Max: Fury Road actress showed so much, she had to censor her video – yes, the 44-year-old abides by the platform's no-nudity policies.
Charlize's update today came as a celebratory one: the star was over the moon that her new Bombshell movie has been nominated for a SAG award, although fans of the famous blonde may have been over the moon for different reasons. The video showed Theron jumping up and down on a bed surrounded by a squad of friends – Theron stood out by wearing a green robe.
Charlize was definitely thrilled that her entire movie's cast had been nominated in the Best Drama category. While some celebrities will celebrate a nomination with a glass of champagne (and a slinky dress), Theron seemed happy to do it completely commando and in a robe.
"I'm not wearing any underwear!" the Oscar winner was heard saying.
That definitely became visible as the star accidentally exposed her nether regions for what would likely have been some very NSFW footage without the edit. And yes, the giant colored panel likely hit the star's fans with a bang.
Fans paying attention to Theron's caption will have noticed that the actress directly referred to her wardrobe malfunction with a 'Whoops."
The video definitely proved popular, though, racking up over 550,000 views in the space of six hours.
Fan comments largely seemed to see users turning a blind eye to the oops moment, with countless users taking to the comments section of the video to congratulate the actress.
"Well deserved" was another comment.
Then again, the odd fan did seem to pick up on it.
Charlize Theron at a press conference
Bombshell centers around sexual harassment at Fox News, with Theron herself opening up to The Independent on how watching the movie made her feel.
"Watching this has been eye-opening to a lot of people. Men, especially, go, 'I had no idea women had to do things like that'. It’s humbling that you can create that kind of moment, because a lot of times you know people are going to say, 'This is a woman’s movie, and men will not tap into this at all,'" she told the newspaper.
"When men can emotionally engage with what we experience and be just as disturbed by it, it’s a powerful thing," she added.
Charlize takes on Megyn Kelly in the movie. The actress revealed how her friends reacted when they discovered that she'd be playing the former Fox News anchor.
"It was definitely awkward. In a weird way, the judgment she gets from a lot of people, I felt on me a little bit. But up until four weeks into shooting, I was still grappling with who she was as a person, and it wasn’t until I really zeroed in on that year-and-a-half of the story that I could actually defend her," Theron said.
Kim Kardashian's SKIMS shapewear line may have released tape to help prevent awkward moments up top, but half of Hollywood is still walking around in flash mode.
Earlier this year, former Teen Mom OG star Farrah Abraham suffered a major wardrobe malfunction as she exposed her nether regions on the Venice Film Festival's red carpet. 2019 has also seen model Kaia Gerber suffer a wardrobe malfunction during Fashion Week.
From Tara Reid to Paris Hilton, it looks like the stars still haven't gotten the knack of keeping within the boundaries of their clothing.
Fans would likely agree that Theron's video today was an adorable one, though. It even featured a cute dog.
