REFLECTING on the series, I figured it was easier to write a review that addressed Death Note as a whole rather than having individual reviews so here goes. Id wanted to read this series for quite some time so when I saw it for sale I just couldnt resist. After my boyfriend read it, I powered through it.From the beginning this series is so clever, the entire ideology behind it is captivating. It addresses ethics, the question of righteousness and the human mind in depth, without forcing philosophical ponderings on you. What is the right thing to do in this situation? Is Light Yagami really a criminal if what he does is for some kind of greater good? What would I do if I found the Death Note? This series consistently kept me on my toes, even when I thought I knew what was going to happen it managed to surprise me. The cat and mouse chase between Kira (Light) and L was so much fun, but intense enough to add suspense to the series. The characters were unique and interesting, providing different and often conflicting opinions on the work of Kira. Ryuk was my favourite character as he was impartial to everything that happened with the humans around him- he was able to laugh at their lives, but he was also a good (for want of a better word) friend to Light.Im sure there are a lot of people who wouldnt expect themselves to enjoy this series, I think at some stage quite a time ago I wouldnt have expected myself to. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, it has a unique story that stands out and is super enjoyable!
