Turns out I was nervous for no good reason. Even though I really, really didnt enjoy the conclusion to Endgame, I think weve seen that Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo still deserve the benefit of the doubt. This was really fun and seeing Gordon as Batman wasnt as hard to imagine as Id anticipated. He shows a healthy respect for the cowl, makes jabs at the suits designer for its bunny-like appearance, and there are a few fun nods to Batman lore, which has become a staple in this creative teams multi-year run. This is as spoiler-free as it gets but heres my advice for anyone who wants it: just give it a try. If youre one of those random haters out there who wrote this off because it looked stupid, I assure you the creators point this out plenty on their own. However, it establishes a cool RoboCop/Judge Dredd-style and somehow manages to keep the tone of the series in place, while also shifting into a brave, new (albeit temporary) direction.Have an open mind. If you dont like it, just remember change isnt always a bad thing. Its most definitely not in this initial issue of Gordons Gotham. (3.5 stars because Im a hypocrite and still have doubts)
