The vampire Alucard, his master Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, and his newly sired ward Seras Victoria, try to protect England from a war-crazed SS-Major who seeks to start an eternal war with his vampire army.
The Queen of England calls a meeting between Hellsing and Iscariot. As they discuss what to do about the Millennium threat, they are interrupted by a message from the Major, who declares his intention to go to war with England. Also, the Eagle, a British aircraft carrier, is captured by Rip Van Winkle and her Millennium squadron, and Alucard is sent to wipe them out.
If someone having a manic episode after being isolated for a long while drew this, I'd understand. I think only the Apocalypse is on par with this. The story is centered around the same characters from the other Hellsing anime which I also liked. This time around, however, there is much less internal conflict related to what it means to become a vampire, much less discussion and guess work. It's all a bloody battle from the beginning to the end full of torn limbs, impaled bodies, silver bullets and napalm. The episodes total about 50 minutes each and the action never lets up and it just gets more and more spectacular as the show progresses. Even though there was little time left for the characters, Alucard, Integra and Seras-Victoria are memorable. My favorite part was Seras transformation into a fully fledged monster. The only thing that upset me are the "funny" scenes. I can't bring myself to understand what possessed the people who made this masterpiece to include those.
The Hellsing Ultimate series is shaping up to be an awesome piece of work. The first episode is almost disappointing. What you get in the first episode is almost a complete recap of the first few shows in the original series. The Ultimate series however is set at a much faster pace, has a new sound track, and the animation is more crisp. You get the same exact story as the original, and thats what seems disappointing. At the end of episode two the you learn about the Millennium organization, something left out of the original series. It episode two adds a lot more depth and substance to the new series. The story starts to stray from the original TV series, and starts to catch interest a lot more. Episode three is where the similarities between the new and old end. Right away we find out Hellsing hires Major Bernadotte and his army as hired guns. "Enrico Maxwell" informs Integra what Millennium is and the Vatican's ties with Millennium Organization. We see a new character "Tubalcaine Alhambra" who engages Alucard in an awesome battle, each showing there tremendous power. In episode three you really see the character development start to take place. Its nice to see a bit more depth in the characters. There are also comical scenes in the anime in what looks like cut-out animation, sometimes its funny, other times its annoying. After watching the first three Ultimate episodes, I rate this a 10. I have never read the manga, I have only watched the original "TV Series"

The studios Satelight (OVA 1 through 4), Madhouse (OVA 5 through 7), and GraphinicaxKelmadick (OVA 8 through 10) elaborately worked closely together with Kohta Hirano. As a result, they created the OVA (Original Video Animation) of Hellsing which in terms of the story stays very true to the original material. Each OVA is an almost one-to-one transfer of an entire volume of the manga. The animation is top-notch, just as the music. Thus, the OVAs, which include all the epic battles, are a very worthy transformation from Hirano's blood-soaked comics to the TV screen.
