After the events on the Forerunner ringworld Halo, Master Chief SPARTAN-117 returns home to Earth with the AI construct Cortana. The war with the Covenant forces is still not going well, despite the destruction of an entire fleet at Halo, but the Master Chief needs a refit. Armed with the Mjolnir Armor Mark VI, he is on his way to a decorations ceremony with the thought-to-be-dead Sergeant Johnson, when Covenant forces emerge from the Slipstream into Earth space. But something is wrong: the fleet is much smaller than the one used to destroy Reach, humanity's former frontline stronghold. The Master Chief and Cortana, along with Commander Miranda Keyes and the crew of In Amber Clad, must fight off the Covenant and protect Earth, a battle that will take them across the galaxy to a new planet, which is disturbingly familiar...Meanwhile, the Prophets, leaders of the Covenant, are not pleased with the Elite Commander that allowed the Master Chief to destroy Halo, and he is branded a heretic. But even Heretics have their uses. He is to become the new Arbiter, a warrior for the Prophets' will, destined to die in glorious battle like all the other Arbiters before him. But deep in the Covenant, rumors are spreading about a Jiralhanae take-over. Can the Arbiter uncover this treachery in time to save the Elites?
I have waited a long time for Halo 2 to arrive. It was to come out on my birthday, but it was delayed right when Spring came around. I waited and waited for Halo 2, and finally, it arrived. I played it and the game was spectacular, but many people were disappointed at the story and the cliffhanger ending. I don't care of the story as much as the game itself. I admit that the game is poorly marketed (for instance, ads say you save earth from the aliens, but you are only there for a few levels and take off to another planet and work with The Arbiter and right when Chief comes back, it's over.). However, people should've known right before the game came out that there was meant to be more to it. Bungie did not want people to learn of the story before the game came out, so they wanted to fool people so they can shut up. Also, single-player was short, but it was so good that it should be played over and over in the harder modes. What Halo 2 lacks everywhere else it makes up for in game-play and multi-player. It's different and revolutionary. It's bigger and better. You can steal vehicles, fire rockets that home in on vehicles, and lunge at someone with a sword. The multi-player is faster-paced and balls-out fun. I LOVE MIDSHIP WITH SWORDS. Halo 2 is more revolutionary than the first one. The first Halo was good because of story and multi-player. The one thing good about the first one was the use of vehicles, but there were some games where that was done before. The first Halo had game problems such as The Flood. Halo 2 does not (except for story). The Flood levels in Halo 2 were better and cool balls-out fun. Remember, a FPS game is not always about the story, but it's about killing stuff and multi-player, as it is true in "DOOM".<br/><br/>Score: 10/10
This game has been out for a while, but if you don't have it yet: DON'T BUY IT!!! This game is absolutely horrible. It's just another one of those stupid games where you go around killing things, while in the background you experience a horrible plot that was obviously put together over a weekend. The books of this game had some promise, the horrible lack of depth and emotion behind Halo's plot was ultimately it's downfall. I hated Halo, but I bought Halo 2 just to see if this was any better. It was better, however, I gave a Halo a rating of .00001 out of 1000. Halo 2? Halo 2 gets a .0002 out of 1000. Seriously, regardless of what your friends may tell you about how this game is "TEH ROXORS", I assure you, this is a sorry excuse for a video game that looks like it was done over the course of a week. It has no focus on gameplay or plot, and focuses ONLY on graphics and eye-candy, just like Halo 1. There's no point in buying this game. Save your money and buy something worthwhile.
