Milena Jonas, 31, from Berlin, Germany, spent hours shaving everyday for 15 years
AN INSPIRATIONAL mum with PCOS has proudly showed off her fuzzy legs, pits and tum - after her husband begged her to stop shaving.
Milena Jonas, from Berlin, Germany, was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome after developing an insulin resistance when pregnant with her daughter in 2014.
The stay-at-home mum, 31, had suffered from symptoms including irregular periods, only occurring twice-a-year, skin problems, weight gain, tummy pains, depression and hot flushes for years before her diagnosis.
Swiss-born Milena also saw hair loss on her head and excess hair growth, known as hirsutism, on her body.
Embarrassed about her body hair, for 15 years Milena spent hours daily shaving her armpits, legs and stomach, and sometimes removed the fuzz from her face twice a day.
In July 2017, Milena finally ditched her time-consuming shaving routine, after her husband of seven years Denny told her she didn't need it to be beautiful.
“I think I've tried almost all methods of hair removal. It took me hours until I was completely shaved, I shaved my legs, stomach, shoulders and my face,” said Milena.
“There is hardly any place on my body where I am not hairy. When everything was shaved and it always came back the next day. I even had to shave my face twice a day.
“My husband knew from the beginning of my hairy problem. I am fortunate to have a very understanding, empathetic and supportive husband.
“He saw how much I suffered and encouraged me to no longer be ashamed of my body and not to bow to social pressure.
“He has often told me how beautiful I am and how proud he is that I am his wife. That helped me a lot.
"We talked a lot with each other, and he showed me that even with my hair, I am a fully-fledged, feminine woman.”
PCOS is a common condition which affects how a woman's ovaries work.
It affects 5-10% Brits of childbearing age or around 3.5 million women.

It's also associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol levels.
The exact cause of PCOS is unknown but it often runs in families and can be more common in overweight women.
Milena used to worry people would think she was unhygienic, dirty or disgusting for not removing her body hair - but now she proudly shares pictures on Instagram, in the hope of inspiring other women to do the same.
She said: “I was afraid to be rejected, to be considered dirty, unhygienic or disgusting but I decided to just leave it. Nobody has a right to tell me what to do with my body.
“The topic of my facial hair was very embarrassing for me to talk about and I was very afraid of nasty comments.
"To post the photo of my hairy belly was a big thing for me.
“I hope that many women and girls can see my pictures and identify with me.
“I hope that I can encourage other people, support them and show them that hair does not mean the end of the world and that they do not have to be ashamed of it. It's just hair.
“Try to remember that hair is natural. It is not disgusting, it is not unhygienic, it is a part of you.
“It's not your body that needs to be changed, it's your thoughts.”
Milena is far from the only one embracing the no-shave movement.
