I did enjoy the authors ideas and the women she profiles are truly inspiring. I also thought her project ideas looked fun. Not all of them were projects that I would pursue with the expressions that I hope to do, but they were great for ideas.The part that I felt was less helpful was the philosophy that in order to be an artistic mother, you had to do craft projects every day and have a dedicated craft room in your house. That just isnt feasible for most people. I wish she had included some ideas for how to start smaller. The reason why I sought this book in the first place is because Im working on improving my drawing capabilities. I have some ability to draw, I want to pursue it more, I am also a busy mom and home educator, like the author. My house doesnt have the option for a dedicated craft room, nor do I need it for drawing and sketching supplies. I loved some of the things the moms were doing with photographs of their children, but for a book called Artistic Mother I had hoped there would be ideas for drawing children, as well.Dont get me wrong, the author and her friends had great ideas for squeezing in craft time during naps and bedtime, but her suggestions for getting started were to use your first time blocks to create a craft room. I think it would have been more helpful to advise a mom to start with some simpler projects while she figured out what she liked best, what she was good at, and how best to express herself. Then she could decide on her space and supply needs.
