new and improved with creepy pictures. but none of mary lou retton.at first i thought this book would be loads of fun, but the more i look at these monsters, the more they resemble the crayon-scrawled drawings of child-schizophrenics. they are charming at first (the dolls, not child-schizophrenics), but the more you look at them, the more sociopathic they seem. some of them are great - the nessie is awesome, but the rest are just slightly off enough that if i made them, i think i would live in fear that they would come alive at night and sneak under my blankets and cut my eyes out with spoons. this fear is valid - i have heard of it happening to the best friend of my neighbors cousin. part of me wants to make some of them for select goodreaders and then wait to hear the results.but i fear they would seek me out - the way cats abandoned across country will show up on their owners steps meowing nice try. and then... the spoons...i dont care of you think i am exaggerating - these monsters are totally the nightmares of killers. in a book. for you and your child to sew.seems cruel.here, this is what i mean. they seem...unfinished. and sloppy. they are not without charm, but if i am going to be using a book to teach me how to sew things, i would prefer that the pictures i am using to learn from be better than what i can make myself so i have something to aspire to. but there is something unsettling about them. like they dont care that they are off-kilter and not professional looking. and that makes me nervous. is it just me??
