Guide: Using @PapayaBot as a Wallet

umbrel

@PapayaBot is an extremely easy-to-use custodian wallet service. It supports multiple crypto currencies, such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ethereum and Stellar Lumens; as well as fiat currencies EUR, RUB, AUD, AED and others.

It's built as a chat bot in Telegram messenger. You don't need to install yet another app if you are among 300 mln Telegram users and it automatically works on your mobile, desktop and inside the web browser. You get instant notifications about incoming transactions and those of you who concerned about device getting in the wrong hands - Telegram allows to set passcode and has decent protection from SMS hijacking to get access to your account.

It's easy to get started, just click the button
or type /start, which has the same effect

Now what you can do with it?

All the same things you can do with any other wallet: check your balance, send and receive money. Transaction history is in our roadmap and will be implemented soon.

For a quick reminder of available commands just type /help
You will also immediately notice convenient main menu

Let's go to /settings first

/settings

We currently have 4 languages: English, Russian, Italiano and Mandarin. Translations have been made by people from the community, so if you think something is not right, missing or can be improved - feel free to contribute by leaving a comment on appropriate cell. Or if you have experience translating websites/applications and feel enough attitude to finish 300 strings of text you can add a completely new language!

Sometimes we do get labels in English, because wallet is constantly evolving and we're forced to change text without having appropriate translation for it.

Select currencies

Next thing you want to do: set up currencies you intend to use.

If you haven't found your local currency - no problem! Let us know and we will be happy to explain what's required for a new currency to be added.

Let's get to the interesting part

Check your /balance

Oh, some of you may see it differently

No balance

That's because we didn't send anything yet, let's change that:

/receive command

Transfers between Papaya users can be done simply by username. Such transactions are processed off-chain and won't cost you a cent. It comes handy when you want to send money to your friends and family on the other side of the world, but not interested in paying fees and waiting for a week.

Generating Bitcoin address

Bitcoin cash address

Ethereum address

Stellar address + Memo

It's important to remember, that for Stellar transactions you must set MEMO to receive your funds. Otherwise we will not know who's the recipient. Messaging support in such cases won't always help, because anyone can monitor transactions and claim your money. We will do our best effort to resolve the dispute if it arises, but if you can't prove that it was you or someone from your friends (or money coming from exchange account, where it's impossible to determine the sender), then we cannot guarantee quick resolution.

Notifications for received funds

How to send

Hopefully it's intuitive enough

/send command gives you many options
That's unfortunate

Sending by email, recipient will get invitation to join @PapayaBot

Note the list of currencies, only options where you have the positive balance come up in this case.

Sending by phone number, recipient will get SMS invitation to join @PapayaBot

Sending to Bitcoin address

Note list of currencies has changed, it understands that you cannot send LTC to Bitcoin address. When sending crypto-currencies disregard the Memo field, it is required to process your transaction.

Sending to Ethereum address

Sending to LTC address, currency is auto-selected

Sending by Stellar address

Enter amount or click the button to send everything

Sending to Stellar address allows you to add MEMO of your choice

Memo type, ID and TEXT are most common and used by exchanges

Final confirmation before sending a transaction

And here we go, sent!

But I didn't cover the most interesting sending options yet

If you have user's phone number
you can just share contact with the bot
If user already uses Papaya, he will be detected, otherwise sending by phone number

And one more:

Stargazer's identity QR code
Stargazer's payment request QR code

Few more details for Stellar users

PapayaBot is based on Stellar payment protocol to support multiple currencies and be able to exchange between them on the fly. We keep all our users on the same account, which means you don't need to care about minimum balance, but it is important to specify MEMO whenever you send to your Papaya account.

All currencies available in the wallet are Stellar assets, BTC, BCH, LTC and ETH are issued by apay.io, EURT issued by Tempo.

When you're sending assets out to another Stellar account - make sure it has required trustline.

We do not pay out inflation Lumens for funds held in Papaya, instead we consider it as a donation to keep us maintaining and developing the service. 1% a year is negligible for any individual user, but when we keep 50 mln of XLM for our users, that will give us enough money to cover cloud infrastructure cost.
