If people are looking for another "Bad Grandpa" film, this is not it. Also, very few of the pranks shown here could be said to be on the level of or better than anything shown in the film. Instead, this is essentially a feature-length behind the scenes look.
Generally, "making of" segments are not all that interesting to anyone beyond big fans of a film or film geeks who like to see how the sausage is made. This is an exception in a good way. When you see the finished product, you likely have no idea how many hours of footage are needed to make a 90-minute film. With pranks that get cut or need several attempts, this sort of film (more than any other) requires excessive work that will never get recognized.
This film also showcases the makeup and we see why the film was nominated for an Oscar (and why it should have won). Perhaps most interesting is getting to see Spike Jonze on a personal level. This is the genius behind "Being John Malkovich", "Adaptation" and "Her"... yet he still pulls pranks and skateboards with the Knoxville crew rather than schmooze with A-listers. Such an interesting character.

After waking up on the beach after a party, Jason glances at his phone and sees that Meredith has called many times and we briefly see the current date displayed as "Thursday, June 25th". Later the next day, it is mentioned by another character that Jason and Meredith will be getting married "Saturday, March 27th...next Saturday".

A theater full of laughing Dirty Grandpas can't be wrong
Just saw Dirty Grandpa with a theater full of 60- and 70-somethings (myself included). Appropriately, it was a 10:50 a.m. showing. I can tell you that everyone - my wife and 86-yr-old father-in-law included - were howling at this thing. Sure it was over-the-top gross, but it was also very, very funny. The final scene between Aubrey Plaza and DeNiro had me laughing so hard I had tears running down my cheeks. I can't believe all of the god-awful reviews I'm reading for this movie. I have to admit that I love Aubrey Plaza, so watching her interact with DeNiro was a real treat (and consistently funny). Zac Efron was solid as the grandson ... and had to have been an incredibly good sport to put up with all he had to in his role. I say, if you're over 60 and not offended by raunchy humor, give this movie a chance. I thought it was great!
