The plot takes place at the beginning of the 20th century, in a reality where alchemy is real, extremely developed and respected. The plot features brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric who, after attempting the forbidden technique of human transmutation, suffer the consequences. Alphonse loses his entire body while Edward loses his left leg. Edward then sacrifices his right arm to save his brother's soul by attaching it to a metal suit of armor. Edward is then given mechanical prosthetics known as "automail" in place of his missing arm and leg. Upon acceptance into the State Alchemists, he is given the nickname "Fullmetal Alchemist", all while searching with Alphonse for the legendary philosopher's stone, that will repair their bodies.
Two alchemist brothers go on a quest for the Philosopher's Stone after an attempt to revive their dead mother goes horribly wrong.
This kind a movie is for people which like animes, like japanese culture, if you like the game, maybe you will like this movie. I didn't play the game, I like some animes, and I like very much this one. The actors are good, I would dare say it´s above the expected from me. Some actors is famous in the oriental productions, like the Dr. Marco in the movie. The role is well done, the effects is good too. It transmited an idea of what they commited to. In the begining of XX century, in a far coutry, maybe oriental, but it seems like european place, 2 young alchemists brothers loose their mother, and try to make a philosofal stone, to bring her to life. One brother is vanished, and the other grow up and become part of the army of this country, a metal alchemist, always trying to find that magical stone. He can bring the soul of his brother, an in exchange of this, he change his arm an his leg fot it. A complex trama with a lot of magical and such drama is in this plot. It is not a waste of time, you can get emotional sometimes, japanese actors done well, the main actors have quite good job!
I wanted to like it but just couldn't. Couldn't finish it either it just didn't appeal to me like the anime did.
Characters come and go quickly, leaving a feeling that there is too much compression of the multi-episode story.
