Real number of internally displaced people in Ukraine is under 1 million people. At the same time, according to the Ministry of Social Policy at the end of April 2018 the number of officially registered IDPs was  1 495 505.

The number of IDPs is exaggerated and is a source of budgetary abuse, says deputy Minister of Temporarily occupied territories and IDPs Heorhiy Tuka.

“There are 720 thousand IDPs registered in Donetsk region. Has anybody seen a new Odessa or Kryvy Rih emerging at Donetchyna? It is fake! I speak against this fake. These numbers are devious. And the budget expenses are wrong and devious as well”.

“Yellow bus” at Kyiv-Avdiivka rout

The name of a film-maker Yaroslav Pilunsky was on the news in 2014 when he, together with his cameramen, spent a week as a prisoner in annexed Crimea.

Upon release Yaroslav started “Yellow bus”  project delivering “information humanitarian aid” and movies to Donbas.

Why is this important?

Team project piks a few famous accomplished people, who have a lot of useful experience to share, and they take a trip to frontline – Avdiivka, Kracnohorivka, Maryinka.

In these cities they show movies to kids, tell them how the movies were made, and conduct master-classes. Cameraman, film director, artist tell about their profession and offer kids professional practice. Just imagine excitement of kids from Maryinka who not only got visited by film directors from Kyiv, but are also offered a chance to make movie together. Normally cultural life in these cities is unvaried and the arrival of “Yellow bus” feels like a ray of sunshine.

Are there any success stories?

Definitely! In Avdiivka kids made a real anti-war movie. For the whole ten days masters guided the kids, as they were shooting their own script.

Yaroslav says:

One girl told us: “I am happy to be born in this city, because we got visited by such film directors”. And it was a scary thing to hear, because it is war there. On the other hand now this girl knows what she wants to be”.

Inclusive school 20 kilometers from warzone

This school operates in Shyroky village in Stanytsia-Luhanska district and at full capacity can teach 550 kids.

In this story we learned few interesting facts:

- At weekends you can meet high school students from occupied Luhansk here. Teens want to get Ukrainian high school diplomas to be able to enter colleges in Ukraine.

- The director got the idea of creating inclusive classes due to personal experience – her own granddaughter suffers from disability. Today there five inclusive classes at school – a girl with autism is in the first grade, two kids with mental development issues study in the second grade, a boy with complications from oncology – in the third. To get into such class one would need to get approved by special psychological, teaching and medical committee.

- In some classes moms take care of their kids. It does not bother the rest of the class – they are used to adult supervision, as parents try not to meddle with the class.

May is a special month for marathon runners. When you read about people who run ultra-marathone at 50 (and it is an 87 kilometer run with no stops) you think of them as super-humans. But they are regular people with regular jobs.

Any big athletic event starts with overcoming smaller obstacles. Just start practicing, run your first kilometer, make a commitment – that’ it.

FreeСХІД tells stories of three marathon-runners from Donbas.

Valeriy BOZHENOV, Maryupil

68 is not an age to stop breaking records. Especially, when it comes to a man who has ran 300 marathons.

Recently Valeriy became a vice-champion of the V Kharkiv marathon with over 10 thousand participants. Valeriy finished second in «60+» category and ran 42 kilometers in 5 hours and 39 minutes, and was still unhappy with his result.

The athlete runs every day: in winter time he runs around 600 km per month, and in summer – about 10000. Also Bozhenov graduated from three colleges, speaks 9 foreign languages, and he is a UN “Ambassador of peace” in Ukraine, and an honorary blood donor.

- Before you learn to run, you need to learn walking. It is better to run slowly, than walk fast. Running is a series of jumps – we get off the ground and stay in the air for some time, with our backbone resting. But there is also danger – the landing must be safe and correct, shoes – comfortable, and the ground – even.

Hennadiy CHYZHYKOV, Donetsk-Kyiv

The president of Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hennadiy Chyzhykov resumed his athletic activity at 48. In 2017 he ran ultra-marathon – 87 kilometers with no stops.

- First, it strengthens cardiovascular system. Second, businessman needs time for meditation. It is a special time when you can take a break from routine, find solution or idea that will never occur to you in the office.

Artem PODDUBNY, Bakhmut

In October Artem won VIII Kyiv international marathon Wizz Air Kyiv City Marathon 2017.

He ran 42.195 km in 2 hours 24 minutes.

- Everyone has individual running technique. So I advise to run the way it helps you relax. Technique itself is not that important. Just imagine you are sleeping instead of running. Not stressing out. In marathon it is called “sleep mode” .
You also need to keep deep steady breath.

It was a part of getting ready for bigger event – Youth Festival “32-d of June” that takes place on 2-d July in Shchastya.

Do you know which music is cows’ favorite? Residents of Svatovo village have the answer: the cows love chamber music!

To improve milk yield they play symphonies in cow sheds at “Slobozhanska” agro farm.  The farms became famous among locals – schoolchildren come there on the field trips. And there is a plan to put milk machines at Svatovo schools .
