Four years after being killed by his daughter, Freddy Krueger rests in Hell. He depends on the dreams of those in Springwood to fuel his existence. But when the town covers up his existence in an attempt to make people forget, Freddy is left powerless. In a last ditch effort he springs Jason Voorhees from his own personal Hell and sends him to Elm Street, determined to strike fear in the hearts of Springwood teens. But when Jason won't stop killing Freddy's "children," Krueger decides it's time to take Voorhees out. Caught in the cross-fire are Lori and Will, both of whom feature a history with Freddy.
I wasn't expecting much from FvJ. I haven't watched that many of the previous Elm St or Friday films but I still expected a entertaining hour and a half's viewing. And thats exactly what I got. No more, no less. The plot starts off suitably ridiculous. Freddy is trapped in hell because the residents of Elm Street have covered up his very existence. All those kids with knowledge of Freddy are locked up in a mental home and drugged to stop them dreaming. As a consequence Freddy has lost his power to instill fear in sexy young teenagers. Now free to do whatever they like without being slashed for the first time in four years (is that all it takes to forget about someone who murdered half the town?) they have taken to pass the time with sex, drugs, sex, skinny dipping in lakes in the middle of the night and more sex. So Freddy devises a plan to release Jason to kill a few people who will mistake to murders for Freddy to raise the fear level a notch or two allowing him to return. Why he has to power to raise other people but not himself is never explained. But Jason starts killing everyone in his path and soon there will be none left for the Fredster. And he isn't happy about it......... You've heard the acting is terrible, the duologue atrocious and the CGI laughable. Its all true. Katherine Isabelle (from Ginger Snaps) is here, she doesn't last very long but she was still a highlight, in a typical stupid teenager in a horror film way. "My boyfriend has just been killed by a maniac last night who is still on the lose but sure I'll go to a party tonight". Did she not watch Scream? How the group put together the laughably outlandish (but true of course) theory that Freddy brought back Jason to kill people raised a giggle. A guy who killed people in their dreams brought back an immortal serial killer who drowned to kill people to give him back his power! Of course! And don't even get me started on the fight sequences which looked like they were ripped from a Playstation game. But for all its faults FvJ brought out the 7 year old Saturday morning cartoon fan in me. This isn't a horror film. Its a gift to fans and novelty, not something to be taken seriously. FvJ knows this from the start and plays to it perfectly.
One of the best movies I've watched. Just as it's title says, Freddy vs Jason. Way better than Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street! In addition, there's this suspense that makes you have this desire to finish the movie just to know who between Jason and Freddy will win. And you know what's better? No one wins! I loved this Part. But what would have made it better, is showing at the beginning of the movie what happened in Friday the 13th IX - The Last Friday, Jason goes to hell. After killing Jason, they show us his hockey mask on the floor. And suddenly, Freddy's claw hand appear and take the Mask, as we hear Freddy's laugh. So I would have liked that, so the watchers can understand how that happened. All in All, Great Movie, I recommend all the horror fans to watch it!

Yes, Freddy vs. Jason is an interquel of those two films. In Jason goes to Hell, Jason Voorhees is finally killed by his niece using an enchanted dagger and his body is dragged to hell by a coterie of demons, his iconic hockey mask pulled down by Freddy Kreuger's arm. In Freddy vs. Jason, Kreuger resurrects Voorhees and frees him from hell, manipulating him in order to create fear in Kreuger's home town of Springwood thus permitting his own return to Earth. At the end of this film, Voorhees is still alive and free but is captured by unknown parties sometime between the end of Freddy vs. Jason and the beginning of Jason X where he is shown to be in military custody. Back in 1957, when Jason was 11 years old, he supposedly drowned at Camp Crystal Lake. Later in the film, during Jason's nightmare in the dream world, Freddy was deep inside Jason's subconscious, and that is the only place where Jason actually has a fear of water. No, but children and teenagers are his personal killing preference. The overwhelming evidence is that Jason did, as Freddy has been reduced to a severed head which can only wink suggestively at the camera. With Jason X, we know that there is another Friday the 13th film, but no more Nightmare on Elm Street sequels, the 2010 film being a remake of the original. So this is finally the end for Freddy Kruger, his body destroyed and his soul burning in hell. Kane Hodder offered to reprise the role, but was turned down by New Line Cinema because they had an image of what they envisioned the Jason character to look like, and felt 6′3″-tall Hodder was too short and bulky. They were also worried that Hodder would have been difficult to work with because in other Friday the 13th films, Hodder would often have creative differences with the director and producers. Betsy Palmer was asked to reprise her role of Mrs. Pamela Voorhees, but turned the chance down because she felt the part was too small for her. During the day there were many activities that included: Freddy and Jason coloring, Jason hockey mask, and Freddy glove making, Indian Leg Wresting, a hot dog eating contest, duct tape wallet making, s'mores, swimming, and tubing out in the lake, dizzy izzy, three-legged races, water balloon toss's, sack races, egg toss's, nature walks, a snipe hunt, human fat candle-dipping, bong building, relay races, dodge ball, capture the flag, clay making, embroidery, skull bead making, archery, arts and crafts, singing, campfire stories, a tribal counsel, a bonfire, and a whole lot more. There was also a Freddy and Jason trivia contest which was made very interesting because the host asked questions about Freddy to the Jason fans and asked questions about Jason to the Freddy fans. Then there was some Salt Lick BBQ served that evening, and then finally a special outdoor viewing of Freddy vs. Jason on a giant screen out in the middle of a large grassy field. Before the movie started, as the crowd eagerly awaited the film, the campers broke into competitive cheers of "Freddy" and "Jason". A half-hour Q&A hosted by Harry Knowles followed the screening and both Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) and Ken Kirzinger (Jason Voorhees) were joined by director Ronny Yu and producer Sean Cunningham to chat with the fans and answer questions. After the stars left, the film Sleepaway Camp, followed by the movie Madman were shown and the whole event would end with a viewing of Wet Hot American Summer. Ken Kirzinger originally went to New Line Cinema to do an interview for the stunt coordinating job for Freddy vs. Jason, but the producers noticed his physical looks, and asked him to audition for the part of Jason. Kirzinger also brought experience to the role because he had played the part of Jason before when he was the stunt double for Kane Hodder who played the part of Jason in another Friday the 13th film—Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan.
