Floods in Mexico hit hospitals, 17 people including COVID-19 patients died


Heavy rains caused flooding which also hit a hospital in the central Mexican state of Hidalgo. At least 17 patients died as a result of the incident.


They said the river overflowed and the water cut off electricity at a hospital in the Mexican city of Tula.


Some of the victims were COVID-19 patients who were being treated with oxygen, local media reported.


Rescue teams evacuated about 40 patients. Meanwhile, a ship that normally carries the governor of the state also sank in the river.


Hidalgo's governor in Mexico, Omar Fayad later tweeted that he was "safe and well", adding that state authorities would continue to coordinate emergency operations in the affected areas.


Due to the floods, the army was deployed to provide assistance to the rescue team dealing with disasters in Mexico.


Mexican President's Condolences

Mexican President game togel online Andrés Manuel López Obrador said he was "deeply saddened" by the deaths of patients in hospitals from the floods.


He urged residents of low-lying areas to move to shelters or live with relatives or friends in safer places.


More than 30,000 people in cities across the state have been affected by the floods.


Separately, two people died after flooding in Ecatepec, a northern suburb of Mexico City, authorities said.
