This was one of my favorite fictional romance novels as a teen. I read it multiple times, but here is my gripe: Shirley Sealy uses the same phrases and expressions over and over again. In reading one novel it can be a little annoying but if you read more than one of her books consecutively the problem becomes REALLY obvious. There were so many typos and grammatical errors in this book that after reading through it four or five times I went through with a red pen and corrected all of the errors. (Thats the English nerd in me.) I dont know why but Shirley Sealy seems to like writing these cute little love stories that are headed toward a nice, neat, happy ending and then BAM she ruins it! Youre going along with all kinds of warm fuzzy feelings and then everything gets ripped to shreds, the romance falls apart and theres no way to salvage the pieces. I feel that Sealy must have had some awful experiences in love if shes so determined to ruin the happiness of all of her heroines.Her books end in an oh well, thats life tone. I guess it wasnt really meant to be. Or an Im a strong woman and my happiness is not dependent on a man... Which I guess is an OK message, and life isnt a fairy tale, but I read to escape REAL life. I WANT a fairy tale! Ive been so frustrated with this method that a few of her books Ive put down and never finished because Im so upset at how she has ruined the story! Over all this is a cute little story about a High School romance, But Id recommend skipping the last few chapters and creating your own ending!
