We are going to take an in-depth look at "edging" and cite academic research from several prestigious institutions, including some Ivy League universities.

At the beginning of 2012 I began a quest to improve my overall sexual health.

Without knowing anything about 'edging' I have perform these exercises regularly because I noticed how it would engage my pelvic floor muscles. In my own experience I also recommend performing these exercise ie. jerking off, while sitting down, lying down and in as many positions as possible. This is because you can be proficient in one position and not in another. For example I can dry blow whilst standing multiple times (and achieve multiple orgasms this way) but am weaker whilst lying down or seated. I think that's important since you don't fuck whilst standing only. So diversify your routines.
