Beginning Tuesday, April 16, 2019, the Tropical Analysis and Forecast Branch of the National Hurricane Center will provide a new weather product providing offshore waters forecasts in the East Pacific within 250 NM of Mexico, Central America, Colombia, and Ecuador.

These offshore waters forecasts will provide 5-day forecasts for 10-meter winds, significant wave heights, primary swell direction, dominant wave period, and significant weather. The weather forecasts are designed for mariners travelling offshore in the waters of Mexico, Central America, Colombia and within 750 NM of Ecuador. Other people who will be interested in this service will include boats traveling to and from the west coast of the southern US, those travelling along the Baja peninsula or into the Sea of Cortez, as well as those vessels traveling to and from the Panama Canal.

The forecasts will be broken down into ten marine zones off the coast of Mexico and an additional seven zones covering Central America, Colombia and Ecuador.
