1. What is proxy?

A proxy is an intermediary between you and the Internet that has many uses, for example, the proxy server provides the ability to create specific filters for more security in the network, the storage capability increases the speed of access to information. Proxy have different kinds that SOCKS5 is used by Telegram. This type of proxy is more secure than its previous version, such as HTTP, and can be used in connecting to server with a secure connection.

2. What are proxy types?

These are some types of proxy:

HTTP Proxy

FTP Proxy

DNS Proxy

SOCKS4 Proxy

SOCKS5 Proxy

3. Is proxy safe?

Yes. In addition to the headers, the proxy server also can controls the contents of each packet, and anything that violates the organization's security policies, and change or go them away.

It can block harmful codes, such as executable files, java applets and activates.

The proxy server also makes it possible to measure packet content to verify compliance with the protocol standards. For example, intrusive attacks are often sent by sending metacharacters to deceive the victim's system or affect the system with a lot of data. The proxy can detect and block illegal characters or very long strings.

Don't worry. All Telegram traffic packets are encrypted. It means they can't understand what are you doing even they save your traffic packets.

4. What kinds of proxies can be used in the Telegram?

In Telegram Desktop, HTTP & SOCKS5 types are used. In other clients just SOCKS5 used.

5. How to set a proxy?

You can active SOCKS5 proxy easily from @ProxySocks5. If you have the information to connect and want to enter them yourself, find these way from Telegram Settings:

Settings>Data and Storage>Proxy Settings

After entering the required information, finally turn on the Use proxy settings button and go back. (Tap on Done in iOS.)

6. Can I make a Telegram Call using a proxy?

Yes. You can turn on the Use proxy for calls button in Proxy Settings.

Note: If your mutual person didn't active that button, the call will start for him without proxy.

7. Why are some proxies not working?

The speed and performance of proxies in different regions and Internet providers aren't the same. So, a proxy may be connected for a person but not for another person. If we make sure that a proxy is really disabled, we'll delete it.

Note: Some proxies may not work for the first time. Please after activating proxy, close the app from Recent Apps, then open it. If it again doesn't work, change the proxy.

8. All proxies are dead in my area. what should I do?

In this case, you can change the connection type to IPv6 mode in the modem settings or in the mobile access point network settings. In Telegram Desktop, you can easily click on Try connecting through IPv6 at the of the Settings>Proxy Settings.

Note: This may affect on performance of other apps that needs Internet to work.
