“Love Her Well is the book every mom of a teen girl should read and underline and keep on her bedside table.”
“For years, Kari Kampakis has been one of my most trusted sources to speak truth into the lives of teenage girls. Please buy a copy of this book for yourself and for the moms you know who are doing their best to love their girls well. You, your friends, and your girls will be glad you did!”
“Kari has done something wonderful here. I love this book on so many levels, and since parenting teenagers has never been harder, it comes at exactly the right time.”
“Kari is a master at shedding light on how adults can do the vital work of raising girls who live out their God-given purpose.”
“Love Her Well is the best book I have ever read about the mother-daughter dynamic. If that sounds like high praise, it’s because it is. I don’t often say that a book is going to change people’s lives, but this one will.” Sophie Hudson, author of Stand All the Way Up
“I call Kari Kampakis the Daughter Whisperer. And as a mom of two teenage daughters, I’m going to read anything this woman writes.” Jennifer Dukes Lee, author of It’s All Under Control
“This is a must-read book, and most importantly – a book to share with a friend who has a daughter.” Sue Scheff, author of Shame Nation
“Having written two acclaimed books for teen girls, Kari is already a trusted voice among mothers of daughters. In Love Her Well, she offers invaluable wisdom for creating a grace-filled relationship with your daughter.” Jeannie Cunnion, author of Mom Set Free
“As a mom to four boys, I may be the biggest fan you’ll find of Love Her Well. I highly endorse this beautifully written book packed with practical ideas, relatable humor, and so much hope.” Monica Swanson, author of Boy Mom
“I love this book! As the mother of two teenaged daughters, I’m constantly on the lookout for insightful teachings that can show new ways to connect and grow our relationship. This book has that and more. I can’t wait to get a group of moms together to read it.” Emily West, mom of two girls, wife of Christian artist, Matthew West
“Love Her Well is an absolute lifeline!" Krista Gilbert, author of Reclaiming Home and co-host of The Open Door Sisterhood podcast
“As a big fan of Kari’s writings and blog, I was so excited to hear she had another book in the works. This book does not disappoint...if flagged pages and highlighted text are indicators of a good, helpful, and relevant book with implementable strategies, then Love Her Well hits the mark!” Whitney Long, co-founder of The Southern Coterie
Now an ECPA Best Seller!! Moms are eager for tips and wisdom to help them build strong relationships with their daughters, and Kari Kampakis’s Love Her Well gives them ten practical ways to do so, not by changing their daughters but by changing their own thoughts, actions, and mind-set.
For many women, having a baby girl is a dream come true. Yet as girls grow up, the narrative of innocence and joy changes to gloom and doom as moms are told, “Just wait until she’s a teenager!” and handed a disheartening script that treats a teenage girl’s final years at home as solely a season to survive.
Author and blogger Kari Kampakis suggests it’s time to change the narrative and mind-set that lead moms to parent teen girls with a spirit of defeat, not strength. By improving the foundation, habits, and dynamics of the relationship, mothers can connect with their teen daughters and earn a voice in their lives that allows moms to offer guidance, love, wisdom, and emotional support.
As a mom of four daughters (three of whom are teenagers), Kari has learned the hard way that as girls grow up, mothers must grow up too. In Love Her Well, Kari shares ten ways that moms can better connect with their daughters in a challenging season, including:
This book isn’t a guide to help mothers “fix” their daughters or make them behave. Rather, it’s about a mom’s journey, doing the heart work and legwork necessary to love a teenager while still being a strong, steady parent. Kari explores how every relationship consists of two imperfect sinners, and teenagers gain more respect for their parents when they admit (and learn from) their mistakes, apologize, listen, give grace, and try to understand their teens’ point of view. Yes, teenagers need rules and consequences, but without a connected relationship, parents may never gain a significant voice in their lives or be a safe place they long to return to.
By admitting her personal failures and prideful mistakes that have hurt her relationships with her teenage daughters, Kari gives mothers hope and reminds them all things are possible through God. By leaning on him, mothers gain the wisdom, guidance, protection, and clarity they need to grow strong relationships with their daughters at every age, especially during the critical teen years.
Kari Kampakis is an author, blogger, and national speaker from Birmingham, Alabama. Her best-selling book for moms, Love Her Well: 10 Ways to Find Joy and Connection with Your Teenage Daughter, and books for teen girls, 10 Ultimate Truths Girls Should Know and Liked: Whose Approval Are You Living For?, have been used widely across the country for small group studies.
Kari’s work has been featured on the Today show, Today Parents, Yahoo! News, Grown & Flown, Motherly, FaithGateway, EWTN, Ann Voskamp’s blog, The Huffington Post, and other national outlets. She also hosts a podcast called Girl Mom. She and her husband, Harry, have four daughters and a dog named Lola.

I devoured this book in two days! I am a mom to a teenage daughter AND two teenage sons. So much of this book applies to loving and parenting boys too. Although the insecurities and daily woes of boys may look slightly different than those of girls, teenage boys also want to be accepted by peers, struggle with mistakes, and need to be hugged. I even found myself needing a refresher on emotional intelligence (Chapter 7) during the days that I read this book. Conflicts arise between adults too (neighbors, friends and even family), especially in an unprecedented year like 2020. I not only love Kari's books, but also her columns; I find myself clipping or printing those out regularly for future reference! This book is a must-read; if you are a "list maker" like me, you will want to keep it in your purse!

I have never written a review on Amazon but could not write this one fast enough. Love Her Well is a *must-read* for any mom with teenage (or preteen daughters). I read this book with my Bible and journal in hand. I love the biblical truths, the non-“judgie”tone (as my teen girls would say) of her writing, the truths she shares from other mothers, the encouragement, the lessons. The list of “Thirty-Five Ways to Speak Life to a Teenager” is reason enough to read this book. As much as I loved reading this book - I wish I could have coffee (or wine) with Kari Kampakis and soak up more and more of her wisdom. THANK YOU Kari for writing this book and helping moms like you learn to “speak truth in love” and love her well.

As a mom of two teenage girls, I can say that Kari hits the mark with Love Her Well. In a world that tries to pull young girls away from God and family, Kari provides the roadmap to staying connected to your teenage daughter while still allowing her to find her own identity. By providing real life examples of her own trials and mistakes, Kari offers advice to mothers on how to create and maintain a solid relationship with their daughters that allows for guidance, discipline, and most importantly, love. Parenting a teenage daughter is not for the faint of heart, but with Kari's voice of reason and wisdom, moms have a resource for how to handle the difficult moments and celebrate the beautiful ones through a deeper relationship with their daughters—one that will ultimately draw them both closer to God.

Kari writes from experience having four girls and being right there in the “trenches” with all of us girl moms. The pages of my book look like a rainbow because of how much I have underlined and highlighted on each page. There is so much practical and helpful knowledge in this book. I also love that her book is rooted with Christian beliefs. Well done Kari!!! I love it so much and will read and reread it!
