Los Angeles in 1947, everything should be sunny, but the smog creates a fog, a haze that permeates not just the lungs, but the psyches. Private eye Roland Drake cracks cases and romances femme fatales, while corrupt cops rule the underworld of the city and moral lines are anything but black and white. A dark, hard-boiled tale of love and betrayal, told in the classic style of film noir. Drake has fallen on hard times in a harsh world. He has been evicted from his office and disgraced by a missing persons case. Ruined in the public eye and with the police. it seems like it's all over for Roland Drake. Then, redemption walks in - with curves. The owner of those curves is a sexy, dark haired beauty named Katherine Montemar. She wants his help. The chemistry is immediate and her concern for the disappearance of her family members pulls him into her case - and into bed. He wakes up to her missing too, and a pool of blood where she used to be. After a nervous encounter with the equally skilled but unscrupulous Lew MacDonald, he is confronted by Katherine's blonde sister, Jennifer. She's a beautiful femme fatale who knows more than she should about everything and blackmails him into helping her. Their destiny becomes entwined in the dark descent that leads them on a hunt for a priceless gem and information peeled back to revel a twisted reality. Dogged by the corrupt police in the form of Detective Tate, Drake must navigate a sinister world of lies, betrayal, and murder with the menagerie of seedy characters. Drake might not be able to tell right from wrong anymore in a doomed love story, which could destroy him, Jennifer, and bury all the mysteries forever.
Detective Roland Drake falls for two sisters from the Montemar family. One woman is dead and the other wants to kill him.
I discovered the film on iTunes and fandango and being a fan of the genre I thought I'd give it a look. my background is in teaching drama and I know it's quite difficult to do anything in that particular genre as it is by nature a mannered and particular style. You are either on board for the more clever than real life actions and dialogue of characters or not

The storytelling in this film is clearly taken from the inspiration of the 30s and 40s pulp. If you don't like the stylistic performances and certainly stylistic look up with some like this don't bother but if you appreciate it and you certainly enjoy Noir Cinema this reveals a treasure trove of double entendre's symbolism and meaning and wonderfully hard boiled dialogue with humor

I believe the ensemble of actors did an amazing job with each character having humor and depth often with the sinister dark edge performances were first rate. I liked the main character role and drake a world weary, very Harrison Ford-esque character who carried the movie all the women were uniformly good in particular Brittney Powell brought a delicate menace and sexuality to her performance. Knowing it's a low-budget film I was astounded by the ambition the reach the technical credits and ability it bodes well for low budget cinema that something like this could even get made

Powell's is a terrific performance as a classic femme fatale and the rest Of the ensemble brought their characters beautifully to light and darkness with humor and surprising depth I had a thoroughly good time watching this movie. Highly recommend beautiful some Tiger fee and direction most of all terrific performances from the cash that is really enjoying themselves
Yeah, what a load of crap! Fooled me with a jargon of "Neo Noir". You don't have to be that stupid to use some saxophone soundtrack to tell people this film is a NOIR, NOIR, NOIR. The private eye does not have to be always in a jam, down and out in L.A. and couldn't afford the rent and got 30 days pay or out eviction notice.

Jesus, this film just looked so pathetically pretentious and ridiculous. More like adapted from a lousy comic book or a children's book. A horrible fantasy for the brain dead adults. Absurd screenplay, scenarios and plots. Nothing is right. A complete waste of time. Like watched a lousy poor staged play in a theater. Characters are all comic, over-the-top costumes and make up. A missing person case or several murder cases, who cares! Don't forget to pay your 2017 income tax and your property tax before the deadlines, they are more important than wasting your time and money to watch this stupid Neo Noir film.
