Vice City is a land of corrupt police, adulterous politicians, unrighteous religious leaders, and a bitter population controlled by murderous gangs and mafia lords. With everyone gunning for Tommy, his only chance for survival is to fight back. Armed with an attorney and a group of allies, Tommy sets out to defeat Vice City through real estate, gang wars, and anti-mafia mayhem.
After being released from prison, Tommy Vercetti, a former mobster, is sent to the sunny and dangerous Vice City. When a deal within the city goes horribly wrong, Tommy embarks on a jorney across the city to reclaim what is rightfully his, no matter how many lives it takes.
SOME SPOILERS AHEAD<br/><br/>This game is so wrong on many levels. Blowing up property, killing pizza delivery boys, pimping hookers, shooting it out with cops, starting riots, how morally absent!<br/><br/>But who cares? This game is pure fun. I love the soundtrack. And the plot. This is more of an interactive movie than a plain old video game. It's a great harmless way to take out your anger. The dialogue is hilarious too. I predict this will inspire people to write crime dramas more than it will inspire people to steal cars and cause trouble. Has there been a dramatic rise in crime since this game's release? Didn't think so.<br/><br/>Everybody should get this game. It is as addictive as coke, but much cheaper, and minus all the negative side effects.
Grand Theft Auto III and its prequel, Vice City, both tell an exciting story about organized crime in a desperate, depraved world. While in GTA III you were a nameless thug, allowing you to inhabit the main character yourself, in Vice City, you have a designated role. You're Tommy Vercetti, fresh off a 15 year jail term and ready to start a new life of crime in Vice City, a town full of criminal potential.<br/><br/>Because of this change in point of view, even if Vice City wasn't a bigger and better game, if it was more or less a carbon copy of it's predecessor, Vice City would still feel like a whole new game. Luckily, Rockstar North also went the extra added mile and gave us new weapons, vehicles (including four different types of motorcycles), and locations to play with. There are even buildings to search (including an apartment that holds a special weapon and a grisly surprise).<br/><br/>Much has been made about the insane amount of violence and other adult content in this game. To start with, all of it is very over the top. Yes, you can kill innocent pedestrians, and you can get money and weapons for doing so. However, doing such a thing is not consequence free: comitting crimes will draw the attention of the police and increase your "wanted level". The higher your level, the greater police attention you draw, sometimes to the point where the FBI and even the Army comes after you. Get arrested or killed and you do start over with a little less cash and no weapons.<br/><br/>There's also great voice acting done by Ray Liotta, Burt Reynolds and the rest of the perfectly selected cast.<br/><br/>Is this game bad for children? Yes, it certainly is. But anyone who enjoys a well made video game that will give you hours on end of enjoyment, and who also enjoys a good crime drama (the storylines in either of these games is as gripping as any Scorsese movie) will love Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
