Kiefer Sutherland stars as Tom Kirkman, a lower-level cabinet member who is suddenly appointed President of the United States after a catastrophic attack on the US Capitol during the State of the Union, on the highly anticipated series Designated Survivor. In this dramatic thriller, Kirkman will struggle to keep the country and his own family from falling apart, while navigating the highly-volatile political arena and while leading the search to find who is responsible for the attack.
After watching the pilot I was convinced that I had seen something of substance to watch. I felt that the premise was sound and creative, and actually think Keifer Sutherland's portrayal as a person thrown into the situation without ambition is right on. Unfortunately, I've gotten to episode 8 and I cannot go any further. The writers could have played this right down the middle politically (for those of us outside of LA/NYC), but chose to take a huge turn to the extreme left. It just makes the drama less believable and allows the viewer to stop merely enjoying the show because you're wondering if this is merely propaganda meant to teach or scold. That kind of writing is neither clever or attractive. I'll search for another good action drama.
Its one of the best action thriller TV series i have seen so far.Before watching this one i believed 24 TV series as the best one. Kiefer Sutherland sure likes to surprise his fans.The story line seems to be OKAY at first but as the story progresses you get the feels and the conspiracy within the government begins to unfold.Its a must watch.
