In the city of St. Canard, the people are plagued by the most bizarre criminals, but they have a protector as well, Darkwing Duck. This bumbling and egotistical superhero battles evil in that fair city with the help of his dumb pilot sidekick, Launchpad McQuack and his rambunctious adopted daughter, Gosalyn.
This is a cartoon that I was obsessed with when I was in the first grade. I was overjoyed when I found out that Toon Disney airs reruns. This is a great parody of classic superheroes (mainly Batman and Spider-Man but somewhat Superman and The Shadow.) The characters have interesting personalities and the stories are fraught with imagination. I still find this show funny and engaging at the age of 20. Darkwing is truly a hero, but has the ego the size of the city he protects. He is extremely flawed, but still manages to balance a crime fighting career with raising a tomboy daughter (and using clever alliteration while doing it.) If you have a chance to catch a repeat of this show, do yourself a favor and enjoy an entertaining cartoon.
Hey, what would life have been a decade ago without DARKWING DUCK?<br/><br/>I actually bought a video years back for my (then) young kids who were transfixed by the deeds of Mr Darkwing. Obviously lifted from the BATMAN concept and with nefarious villains around to allow DARKWING DUCK to win out ultimately, bringing with each victory some social lesson to be learned, each episode was a feathered triumph to savor. As his inimitable &quot;Bruce Wayne&quot; alter ego Drake Mallard, Darkwing would defend to the death the honor of the least threatened creature while reminding us of many of life&#39;s little obligations.<br/><br/>Multi-layered animation for the aware.
