Street dancer Thomas Uncles is from the wrong side of the tracks, but his bond with the beautiful Megan White might help the duo realize their dreams as they enter in the mother of all dance battles.
this was the absolute worst Wayne's movie i've ever seen. the movie was a waste of my time and money. everybody in the movie theater i was in wanted a refund for their money. The move was dumb. It had no point to it. now don't get me wrong, yes it did have some funny points in the movie but with the funny points or no funny points the movie made absolutely no sense and i wish i wouldn't have wasted my money. i was very upset with the movie and so were my older and younger siblings. if i didn't know that the Wayne's were really and truly funny people i would never go see another one of their movies. but since i know they are normally very funny people i cant wait until they make another movie i just hope its much better than dance flick
Dance Flick (2009): Dir: Damien Wayans / Cast: Shoshana Bush, Essence Atkins, Damon Wayans, Christina Murphy, David Alan Grier: Flimsy comedy that makes fun of dance films. Directed by Damien Wayans with special effects that sometimes work and sometimes don't. Story is none existent. It's just a series of sight jokes with a cast that are helpless to improve it. Wayans proves to know the genre but he fails to provide a story to employ that knowledge. Shoshana Bush plays the white girl hoping to bust into dancing. She is coached by a black dancer, which leads to obvious romance and much finger pointing. Essence Atkins plays her best friend who brings her baby about in a backpack then stuff him in a locker. Damon Wayans plays Atkins' brother who teaches Bush dance moves. Christina Murphy plays the snide top dancer in a role that has been played and parodied so many times that the role must have highlight notes on every script it ever appears in. David Alan Grier plays a character named Sugar Bear and one can expect that this isn't the cartoon bear from the breakfast cereal. It sets out to make fun of High School Musical and any other musical made within the previous thirty years. At times very funny such as the scene where a father stops by to "pick up his son" but ultimately it is just a tired retread of dance movie clichés that were long since forgotten. Score: 5 / 10
It would be hard to imagine a film with less going for it than Dance Flick.
Dance Flick is a dance film parody based on a screenplay by the Wayans Brothers—Dante, Keenen Ivory, Shawn, Marlon, and Craig—and directed by their nephew Damien Dante. Being released as an Unrated version on DVD, the Director's Cut features approximately 6 minutes of new footage that was reinserted into the movie. Don't expect anything spectacular and those scenes don't improve the movie at all. Fans are maybe happy with this new cut, others won't care. a5c7b9f00b
