This book is a graphic novel spinoff of the popular series, the Boxcar Children. In this particular edition, the Aldens are spending their days on the beach and one morning they find a gold necklace in the sand. They go on a search for the owner and are led to the Tower House, which is mysterious and empty. There is a small brush fire, which is quickly put out and the house is saved. The people who lived there thanks them, but still kept to themselves. The next day, Violet saved a kitten from being hit by a car, and it turns out the kitten belonged to the owners of the Tower House. The Aldens become close with the owners, and receive gifts from them as a thank you. I did not enjoy this book. It may be because I do not enjoy graphic novels altogether. I am not a fan of the comic book style reading. The illustrations in this book were colorful and the facial expressions were impressively realistic, but I do not find it enjoyable to be jumping around all over the page reading the speech bubbles above the pictures. As a kid, I absolutely loved reading the Boxcar Children, but I would much rather read them in a chapter book format.
