The elementary school librarian yesterday pointed this book out to me and told me to have at it, since it is simply stunning. I waited then, since I wanted to give myself a particularly good reason to come in today, and also I wanted to clear my mind before seeing this book better than whatever mess it had been yesterday. And indeed, I was absolutely taken by how this story was given new life by the beautiful illustration of Adrienne Adams!I found that this really was something to behold. From my immediate post-blacking texts, it seems what struck me most were the colours. According to what I said, it made the story seem darker than what I remembered.This is the classic tale of Thumbelina, a little girl no bigger than a human thumb. She travels by absurd means, being so tiny.So above it being this story, I am particularly discussing this version of it, which I saw and fell in love with today. I suggested to my accomplice that the possible reason I found it darker and hence liked it more could have been that I was working with it in a darkened environment (as the back room of that library is half-lit by default to relax the eyes).In any event, I had a wonderful time experiencing the magic of this fairy-tale today.
