The biggest issue I have with this story, and why I rate it so lowly, is the whole love triangle thing going on and the fact that Persephone is simply a replacement for Demeter.Im all for unique retellings of old stories, since you dont want to read the same thing over and over, but this was just silly. Ive read this authors other work, like her Poseidon/Amphitrite story, which makes this story bother me even more. Poseideon loved Demeter, but she didnt love him back, so he settled for Amphitrite. Zeus also loved Demeter, but his love was not reciprocated either so he settled for Hera. Its Hades who Demeter loves, and he loves her back.Zeus is jealous over this, so forces himself on Demeter, causing her to give birth to Persephone, and then Demeter disappears/dies after that. Hades comes across Persephone, who looks a lot like her mother and has her mothers gifts, since she is replacing Demeter, and you can see where this is leading.This kind of thing made me want to give this story just one star, because I found the whole background to be ridiculous, but the artwork is really nice, so I give it one star for that.
