Chelios faces a Chinese mobster who has stolen his nearly indestructible heart and replaced it with a battery-powered ticker that requires regular jolts of electricity to keep working.
Chev Chelios survives a fall from the sky, sort of. He's in an unknown location, sedated, while various Chinese are harvesting his organs. His heart is gone, in an ice chest; a temporary in its place. Chev escapes, knowing only the name of the guy with the ice chest. He calls Doc Miles, an unlicensed cardiologist, who tells him there's only an hour's life in the artificial heart: keep it charged. Chev needs to find his own heart and get to Doc for a transplant. He starts his time-limited pursuit of shadowy figures, the ice chest, and his heart aided by Eve, Rei, and Venus - a stripper, a prostitute, and a pal with Tourette's - constantly needing an electric charge to keep going.
Haha....never seen Jason Statham in a hilarious, action thriller :) Dunno about the prequel of this movie, but High Voltage was a funny crank! :-)<br/><br/>Statham&#39;s mannerisms(especially when he requests some dudes to shock him) are almost like Jim Carrey&#39;s that leaves you in splits. Of course, his action is also fast &amp; furious! Amy Smart as his love is hot and raises the temperature a bit more in this already high voltage flick.<br/><br/>Fast-paced scenes and loads of humor keeps you entertained till the end. Of course, the plot is ridiculous which is really not a problem to me. Although there are some irritating characters like the Jap girl who hams to get Statham&#39;s attention. And there&#39;s the predictable climax(the surgery on Statham) that could have been done better.<br/><br/>Verdict: Still, the movie is loads of fun. Watch Statham in an &quot;electrifying&quot; avatar ;)
When talking about great movies, this movie must be included in that group. This movie is part comedy, part action, and all entertainment. Constant action, witty dialogue and a surprisingly comic performance by Jason Stratham makes this movie a definite &quot;must watch&quot; for any movie buff. But most noticeable are the strong performances by the supporting cast, especially by Art Hsu whose performance is part camp and part comedic, and the incredibly feisty and entertaining Bai Ling who gives a truly memorable performance as a hyperactive masseuse. Indeed Ms. Ling&#39;s performance alone makes this movie worth watching. This movie is proof that when given the right material with good direction, the actors can create skillful and entertaining performances. Dwight Yoakim is equally entertaining as the doctor and the story itself is so off beat as to attract and keep the audience&#39;s attention. Why watch some pretentious love story or period piece when you can watch an action flick that mixes action with comedy? One other thing, this movie also teaches that under certain circumstances 1,000 volts of electricity jolting through your body to CAN save your life. However such &quot;treatment&quot; should be administered only under a competent medical supervision or if you have an implanted electronic device that needs recharging.
In Crank: High Voltage, Statham just looks miserable, as if appearing in this lousy picture just sucked all the heart right out of him.
Crank: High Voltage is an action-thriller written by film-makers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who also co-directed the film. It is a sequel to <a href="/title/tt0479884/">Crank (2006)</a> (2006). Crank: High Voltage picks up immediately where the first one finishes, there is a three month gap, and then the film continues, Chev (<a href="/name/nm0005458/">Jason Statham</a>) falls out of a helicopter. At the beginning of Crank: High Voltage, it shows Chev being removed from the scene by a snow shovel. He then wakes up in the hospital, after having his heart transplanted. Whatever it be, it&#39;s a MacGuffin, an object used to thrust forward a story but often never identified. The leaves the actual interpretation of the item in the film to the viewer. The way Chev Chelios describes the unknown object that&#39;s inside the box after he opens it suggests that it&#39;s something very disgusting, e.g., an illegal drug, somebody&#39;s body part or possibly something pornographic. During the first part of the credits, Doc Miles places Chev&#39;s heart back in (although we don&#39;t see what he does with Poon Dong) while Eve watches (due to the fire, Chev is covered in full-body bandages). At first, it looks like a failure, but after everyone leaves, Chev&#39;s eyes open, and his heart is heard beating. In addition, there are several bloopers shown after the credits begin. a5c7b9f00b
