Dinosaur footprints and fossils preserved in Croatia are rarely found. So far, 23 dinosaur footprints have been discovered and investigated, and petrified bones have been found at one site. The discovery took place in the Brijuni Islands, where dinosaurs are believed to have walked Brijuni to million years ago. Footprints suggest the presence of sauropods, theropods, and ornithopoda dinosaurs. Fossil footprints and bones are preserved in Mesozoic limestone deposits. The oldest discoveries of footprints are from the Late Jurassic, and the youngest are from the Late Cretaceous. First discovered in Croatia in , A. Bachofen-Ecto discovers traces of dinosaurs at Cape Ploce in Verikiburiuni. Christine Jaeger believes she encountered fossil footprints near Milna on the island and said she sent several photographs that resembled the rock footprints of Brijuni.
