Flint Lockwood has always wanted to make the world a better place. But all of his inventions are not useful. Until he creates a machine that can turn water into food. And when he tests it in front of his hometown, Swallow Falls, he accidentally launches it into the sky. And makes food rain from the sky. But when Flint thinks he's helped his town, disasters start occurring when people ask for more food.
A local scientist, (Bill Hader), has always been a failure, but when his town is stuck eating gross sardines, Flint wants to help the town so that they don't have to eat sardines anymore. So he invents a machine called The FLDSMDFR, (Flint Lockwood Diatomic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator), a machine that can turn water into food. And he sends it up into the atmosphere and makes food rain from the sky. But suddenly, things get out of hand when The FLDSMDFR creates dangerous food storms. It's up to Flint to stop The FLDSMDFR before it turns the world into a monstrous Foodtopia.
I'll say this right at the start just to get so I don't forget, the animation looks Jack-Jack (Baby from Incredibles) like style, make it worth your while. It can be really funny and the voice actors are pretty good (I especially like Steve's voice, because it's such a fast voice, but I love it for some reason) Kids will definitely love this show for it's zaniness and funny characters.

I usually Adore Sony Pictures Animation's CGI movies, but I think this one is a pretty good by far, it doesn't nearly hold up to the Pixar or Dreamworks films, not by a long shot. But for rating it as a 3D animated films it's pretty good (much better than that horrible movie about the Lab Assistant with a big hump).

Well, thats about it for this movie, maybe you should watch it & give it a decent chance, like me I was comparing it to 2008 CGI movie, can you guess what movie it was :D
I really enjoyed the first 50 minutes of this film but the last 30-some are so silly and overdone that it dampened my enthusiasm for the movie. I wouldn't watch it again, especially not with all the other much-better animated films in recent years.

What happens in the end is the problem that occurs in many modern-day action movies: too much. Things get so frenetic here, so loud and crazy that it simply becomes too much. Action can get boring when it's non-stop and over 10 straight minutes of it. Here, it's like the last 30 and by then, you no longer care what happens.....just get the darn movie over.

Too bad, because this had a great premise and a couple of characters you cared about, like "Flint" and "Steve." A third man character, the weather girl, "Sam," was okay but much like the film: interesting and likable at first, but slowly less so. She didn't really add a lot to the film with the lame romance and PC angle. Speaking of the latter, "Mr. T.'s," cop character "Earl" was over-the-top and insulting in its stereotypical PC mode.

Overall, a film which could have super but carried away and wound up just a big, giant mess, just like all the food splattering on the people.
The splashy animation is well-executed but again a bit monotonous for a full-length feature.
The town is fed up with eating sardines all the time so Flint Lockwood invents a machine that turns water into food and rains it down on the world three times a day. Unfortunately, Flint's machine has a mind of its own, and Flint must stop it before it destroys the world. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a 1978 children's book written by Judi Barrett and illustrated by Ron Barrett. The book was adapted for the animated movie by Philip Lord and Christopher Miller who also co-directed the film. It is followed by Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013) (2013). Yes, in fact as early as 1965 American scientists held an experiment in which, for 4 months, they fed 24 men nothing but synthetic chemicals created in a lab (amino acids, vitamins, glucose, salts, and the fat ethyl linoeate), in the form of a tasteless goo. But food made in a lab is much more expensive than food produced in the normal way. However, Flint's methods as presented in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs are not meant to be taken seriously: more than water would be needed to create synthetic food, and making it into something that looked like real food would be extremely difficult. However the plot was heavily changed: (1) Changed from fantasy to slight science fiction; (2) They never actually try to stop the food weather; (3) The weather was isolated to the island without any part of the world knowing about it, whereas in the movie, it becomes a tourist attraction and the food even spreads around the world; (4) Flint Lockwood, the girl meteorologist, the corrupt mayor, and most of the other characters in the movie don't exist in the book; (5) The island had no association with sardines, it always rained food at the island; (6) There was no mount leftovers; (7) They never ever come back to the island; (8) The kids don't get excited with the no school; and (9) The book plot had nothing to do with many themes in the movie i.e. fame, family, individuality. a5c7b9f00b
