You can control who can and can't call you in your Privacy and Security settings.

Data usage

In our mobile apps, you can track your Network Usage in your Data and Storage settings.

iOS: Settings > Data and Storage > Network Usage > Scroll down to Calls to view Bytes Sent/Received.

Android: Settings > Data and Storage > Mobile Data/Wi-Fi Usage > Scroll down to Calls to view Bytes Sent/Received.

Use less data for calls

Note: If you enable this settings, the quality of calls will be reduced.

If you feel that your calls are taking too much data, then you can choose to reduce data usage.

iOS: Settings > Data and Storage > Use Less Data > "Never/On Mobile Network/Always".

Android: Settings > Data and Storage > Use less data for calls > "Never/On Mobile Network/Always".

Key verification

When a call is initiated, the participating devices exchange encryption keys using the Diffie-Hellman key exchange. After the secure end-to-end connection has been established, you will see four emoji on your screen.

They visualize the encryption key for your call: to make sure that no man-in-the-middle attack can succeed, you and your recipient just need to compare these emoji. If they are the same on your recipient's screen, you can be sure that the call is 100% secure.

If you're into cryptography, you can read more about key verification for Telegram calls here.
