Michael Westen, a seasoned U.S. spy, is suddenly "burned", i.e. discredited, without any form of procedure. He survives by doing impossible jobs for desperate people in Miami, where his mother lives. Michael is usually aided by his ex-girlfriend Fiona and trusted former FBI informer Sam.
Professional spies don't just get fired like regular people. Instead, they get "burned". And when you are burned, you're exposed and left with absolutely nothing to your name. No cash, no credit, no credit score, no job history, and you're stuck in whatever city the agency decides to leave you in. Michael Westen is one such spy. He was burned and decides to take his revenge on the people who burned him. But in order to do so, he decides he cannot do this alone, so he teams up with people from his past. His former partner Sam Axe, an ex-Navy SEAL who used to rat on him to the FBI and more than enjoys a good cocktail or two. And his on again, off again ex-girlfriend Fiona Glenanne, who enjoys explosives and firearms as much as fashion and yogurt. Together, they take on cases that help individuals throughout the city of Miami, while Michael puts together the pieces of the puzzle about the people that burned him. And they will need lots of yogurt and C4 in order to do so.
I have to give this show a ten because it's kept its quality for four years, and not many do that. Even rarer, these characters grow and develop, relationships change. Michael could barely stand his mother in the pilot - check it out now. Fiona and Sam were at each other's throats, but Michael blended them into a team and they developed a friendship. Every year ends with a cliffhanger - and only the writers know how they're going to solve the last one. First class villains and clients you don't want to see lose. Thoroughly engaging, with brains and brawn in every frame...Not to mention that Miami is photographed so carefully it becomes a virtual character in the show. Stumbled onto the pilot, and haven't missed an episode yet.
I started out being unsure but after a few episodes it was good. The mixture of comedy moments when they perform some miracle revenge act on a drug dealer or bad character made it refreshing. This meant you didn't have to take it all too seriously. I found the plot involving Anson Fullerton added some great twists, I won't spoil them for future viewers. Sadly the latest season is driving me insane, mainly with Michael's Mum. We keep seeing her crying and moaning about Michael claiming she want's to know who he is dealing with. Maddy's obsession with her Grandson is nauseous and basically it ruins almost every episode. She claims she will deal with matters but she just keeps running off at the mouth and then apologising. Seriously the writers need to give her a back seat role similar to the one she had in previous seasons. Just bring her in when dinner needs making and leave her out of the main plot.

Michael wears the Oliver Peoples Victory sunglasses. Oliver Peoples no longer makes the Victory frames, in the 55s (which is Michael's lens size) or the 58s. The lens color is the cognac, which is available via special order on just about all of the sunglasses OP has to offer. Recently (Spring 2010), Oliver Peoples rereleased the 55s in the gold/cognac color combination. It is unknown how long the new run will last. In the pilot it's established that Fiona is Irish and as such she speaks with an Irish accent. In the second episode she greets Michael using an American accent. When he asks her about it she says she "can't go around Miami sounding like a freaking leprechaun". later it's determined that in order to hide from her numerous enemies, she took on an American accent.
