A TEENAGE boy attempted to rape a terrified 91-year-old woman after breaking into her home as she slept, it's been alleged.
The 16-year-old has been accused of smashing his way into the elderly pensioner's home in Adelaide, Australia, shortly before midnight on Thursday.
Adelaide Youth Court heard how the teen - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - then forced himself onto the woman as she lay asleep in bed.
She then woke up and started screaming for help, allegedly prompting him to flee - leaving behind a trail of blood, reports 7News.
The alleged sex predator was arrested in city's southern suburbs on Saturday afternoon by Special Crime Investigation detectives.
He was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and assault with intent to rape.
The victim has been left terrified and living in fear of another attack, the court heard, and is now living with family members.
When the teen appeared in court Monday, lawyers requested key details of the case be kept under wraps to prevent undue embarrassment for the accused's family.
A bid for the him to be released to live in a small country town was denied because of the seriousness of the charges.
According to court documents, the boy has a history of trespass offences.
He will remain in custody until his next court appearance in two weeks.

A PARTY crasher allegedly raped a 17-year-old boy at a kid’s birthday, after the 250lbs attacker plied the sleeping teen with booze.
Jessica Rae Good, 43, was arrested on Wednesday after her alleged victim told a staffer at his high school that he was sexually assaulted.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, the teen said he had been sexually assaulted over the weekend at a home in Port Charlotte.
The incident happened after a birthday bash, the New York Post reported.
Good had been out drinking with a friend on May 9 before she crashed the celebration for another teen when her buddy went to bed, authorities said.
“After returning home intoxicated, Good continued to ‘hang out’ with the juveniles while allegedly making extremely inappropriate sexual comments and providing the 17-year-old victim with alcohol,” sheriff officials said in a statement.
Another girl at the party, who was just 12 years old, told deputies she had been asleep on a bean bag in the home when she was awoken by sounds of two people having sex.
The girl, who had been sleeping just a foot away from where Good and the 17-year-old were lying together, said the teen had whispered to her, asking for help.
According to an arrest report obtained by the Port Charlotte Sun, the boy later told deputies that Good forced herself on him after she fell asleep. 
He claimed he was not able to push the woman off him, due to her size, according to the arrest report.
Good is listed at 250 pounds in jail records.
The 12-year-old girl told deputies that the boy got up to use the bathroom at one point, where he vomited. The pair continued having sex afterwards, before Good got her belongings and left the home.
Good told investigators that she had “blacked out” and so could not remember most of the illicit sexual contact.
In Floriday, it was illegal for an adult to have sex with a minor, even if the activity was consensual - although some exceptions existed. 
Good, a Punta Gorda local, has been charged with two counts of child abuse, and two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
On Monday she was released from the Charlotte County Jail, after posting a $150,000 bond, jail records show.
It was unclear if she had hired an attorney who could speak on her behalf.
According to the Port Charlotte Sun, court records showed Good had no criminal history in Charlotte County.
She was due to be arraigned on June 21.
