The only problems i had with this show were ben&#39;s lack of character development from UAAF and (temporarily) the animation style.<br/><br/>Yes, it may seem childish at first, but once you watch the show for a while, i promise it will start to grow on you, this animation really gives some expression over UAAF&#39;s bland and expressionless animation style, as if coming from a &quot;how to draw anime&quot; art book.<br/><br/>Yes, the show may seem uninteresting at first, but the plot digs deeper, and it stays loyal to UAAF fans, since it includes some big plot twists that dig back to those two previous shows.
This series is a perfect example of what happens when people start saying &#39;this is a kids show, why do we have the fate of the universe hanging in the balance?&#39;<br/><br/>Too often people have thought cartoons are only used to shut kids up and they don&#39;t need major thought put into them, many critics have spoken out about it and love good series while loathing the simplistic writing styles that this new show has developed. Prime examples are the introduction of the new &#39;fish out of water&#39; character in Rook, he isn&#39;t there for character growth, he&#39;s there so the kids can laugh at his blunders in Human society. The second is the removal of Gwen and Kevin from the storyline, simply because the new head of the series doesn&#39;t like Osmosian and Anodite abilities. <br/><br/>Then there is a simplifying of the main character, at the end of UA, Ben had accepted that he had the responsibility of protecting the Earth and anywhere else because he had the power now, but with the introduction of the OV storyline, he has been reduced to a more goofy hero who still doesn&#39;t have full control over his new powers. That&#39;s a complete reversal of his character and a horrible move on the creative teams part, and the last part, the complete dissolution of his relationship with his girlfriend Julie, I can&#39;t find out why they did it, but I could hedge my bets on the same thing that is wrong with this whole series: the maturity of the series has been killed completely for something less interesting and simplistic.
