Sadly, I’ve fallen desperately in love with Hannibal Lecter and therefore with Will Graham. Just what I needed; morphing into a Fannibal in the wake of the tragic cancellation of a show that was on the verge of making its incredible ship canon.. Such a tragedy life is. No more food porn. No more suit porn. I haven’t even watched all seasons yet (because: chicken) but The Fannibal in me chokes on bitter despair.However, there are always still precious gems waiting to be discovered in the Hannigram fandom, Shark Tank the most obvious one of them. It’s not hard to grasp why this ‘FBI profiler gets locked up with cannibalistic mastermind Hannibal Lecter’ fic is the most popular Hannigram fic out there. Who can resist a delicious blend of prison trope meets Bonnie and Clyde meets dysfunctional obsessive love affair splattered with blood, intestines and a dash of Stockholm Syndrome? Not me. “Why?”, Will hears himself say. “Is it turning you on?”“No,” Hannibal says, and his teeth close over Will’s earlobe. His hips press hard against Will’s ass, but he isn’t hard. Will goes very still because he is very aware that Hannibal has mutilated several other inmates and the odds of him hesitating to do the same to Will are very low. “I’m sorry,” he says. “I’ll stop swearing.” His breath comes out shakily when Hannibal lets go. “It’s the rudeness I can’t stand,” Hannibal says. He puts a hand around Will’s throat and tightens his grip just enough to restrict his air supply but not completely cut it off. “You will cease to deliberately test my patience, and if you would like me to sodomize you, you may ask for it politely, like everything else.” Despite this fic being a good 200 pages long, it never loses momentum. It never becomes predictable. Even though the last third was noticeably less intense and I was personally rooting for a different, more appropriate sort of ending, I was never not intrigued and entertained. Shark Tank remained a page turner until the very last page. There are a few glitches and errors (ah, the charm of fanfic!), and I will refrain from commenting on the French used, but overall this fic holds its own and might as well have been officially published. It really is that good.You also don’t necessarily have to watch the TV series prior to reading Shark Tank. Although I strongly suggest that you do yourself a favor and at least watch a few YouTube vids and look up a bunch of gif sets to get an idea of the pairings’ dynamics. With this pairing it’s not exactly hardship to watch them in action either. Besides, you wouldn’t want to visualize Anthony Hopkins instead of Mads Mikkelsen, would you? Rather, the risk lies within losing track of time browsing murder husbands Tumblrs...Now excuse me while I go bully my friends into reading this.
