Dr. Evil and Mini-Me have somehow escaped from a maximum security prison and the duo team up with Goldmember. Together they formulate a plan for world domination. And this particular scheme requires a large amount of time-travel, and kidnapping Austin Powers' father, England's master spy, Nigel Powers. As Austin chases Dr. Evil, Mini-Me and Goldmember through time, he stops in 1975 to "connect" with an old girlfriend, detective Foxxy Cleopatra, and requests her help to track the villains and save his father.
Upon learning that his father has been kidnapped, Austin Powers must travel to 1975 and defeat the aptly named villain Goldmember, who is working with Dr. Evil.
I thought the first two films were hilarious, but this has got to be the best. When I saw this at the cinema four years ago, I was surprised to see the Austinpussy film-within-a-film but I soon realised it was part of the actual film itself.<br/><br/>Beyonce makes a great sidekick for Austin and she is especially helpful in the scene in Mr Roboto&#39;s Headquarters where the subtitles look dogdy (for example, &quot;Please eat some s**t,&quot; becomes, &quot;Please eat some shitake mushrooms.). One of the best puns in this film is the name of Gwyneth Paltrow&#39;s character, which is Dixie Normous. My dad found that name terrible yet funny. I also liked the scene where the Japanese twins ask for Austin&#39;s autograph and they tell him their names are Fook Yu and Fook Mi, which is similar to the Dixie Normous joke, but they sound a lot ruder because they sound like the F-word.<br/><br/>People who already like the first two films may like this as well because it&#39;s just plain hilarious. 9/10.
This film returns austin to his english roots. The humor is dry, the humor is raunchy, the humor is overstated, the humor is understated. Parts are subtle, parts are anything but... The humour is basically english though.<br/><br/>And the humor is physical. Old style physical comedy was becoming a dying art, with dozens of cheap rip offs of jim carrey routinely passing as a limp substitutes for it. This film is the first in a long time that reminds me of the keystone cops, laurel and hardy or charlie chaplin. The funny is funny and the film lacks pretension or an absorption with plot details that encumber humor. This film is the first to capitalize on all the humor the other two movies gave us glimpses of. Mike Myers is not but may yet become this generation&#39;s peter sellers, or charlie chaplin. I&#39;m looking forward to whatever comes next.
